Is there a potential problem with water running down into the tailgate and affecting the sound deadener - running into the mating area and possibly freezing there? Your doors have good lower seals to stop that, the gate is wide open to the elements, unless you seal it up well.
The sound deadener is butyl and foil... if pressed and adhered correctly there shouldn't be any issue with water. It does not absorb moisture. That is also why I didn't use any of the Hybrid 3-in-1, which has foam on the inner layer.

Of course from my recent experience, the inside of the doors was MUCH wetter than inside the tailgate when I pulled the panels.

Thanks for sharing much appreciated, I had 3 large sheets left and only took one to complete the tailgate and it was a quick process. Only thing I'd like to do is under driver/passenger floor liner but not sure I'm ready to get under there yet

Here in the PNW we get a lot of rain and I ran the same 2 layer setup in my previous F-150 for roughly 4 years. I never had an issue with the deadener becoming water logged and my truck parks outside. The main step is to keep the deadener off the bottom 1 1/2” of the door skin which also allows the weep holes to work freely. Another biggie in my opinion is getting a weather shield around the speaker (need to open the back in order to utilize the door as a speaker box) but it creates a shield so that water can’t drip directly onto the speaker. Seems to help quite a bit. The 3in1 had the foam layered in the middle which may have helped the situation to not not become a problem. Time will tell on the Ranger. Sure sounds good!
