The sound deadener is butyl and foil... if pressed and adhered correctly there shouldn't be any issue with water. It does not absorb moisture. That is also why I didn't use any of the Hybrid 3-in-1, which has foam on the inner layer.Is there a potential problem with water running down into the tailgate and affecting the sound deadener - running into the mating area and possibly freezing there? Your doors have good lower seals to stop that, the gate is wide open to the elements, unless you seal it up well.
Of course from my recent experience, the inside of the doors was MUCH wetter than inside the tailgate when I pulled the panels.
