Just a warning for people from the states, prices are going way up.

Wife bought top of the line RainX wiper blades and said they were $80. 6 months ago I bought the same blades for our Ford Fiesta and paid $65. Yesterday I checked pricing and they are now $39 per blade. Blades are made in Vietnam

I bought a K&N Air Filter $70 with tax, Made in Canada

These tariffs are not being absorbed by the retailer, they are being passed to the consumer

Huh?
That's just the box, maybe.

Also, sadly, only fools thought that the retailer or would absorb tariffs.
And even worse, some retailers are adding 'tariffs' to the price just as an excuse to jack the price.
I saw tariffs added to some electronic stuff from China, long before the tariffs were set to kick in.

Huh?
I didn't keep the box, but I could have made an error on the air filter. All the French writing made me think Canada. I bought a K&N air filter for my Jeep 2-3 years ago and it was $45 and i recall

I'll admit I was one of the fools who thought the retailers would absorb the cost, because the guy I voted for kept saying that

I've noticed prices going up on everything

The way I see it, buying Made in China, Made in Vietnam, etc. is basically the same thing as hiring Scab Labor.
If I wanted a truck built in a foreign country, I could've bought a new Tacoma.

OOF!

The Toyota Tundra and Tacoma pickup trucks are built at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas plant in San Antonio.

Even if the product is 100% made in America the price will go up.
If an imported widget was $5 and now is $10 the American made product will also increase in price even their cost didn’t increase.
It is all about greed and profit.

☝🤓 incorrect, as of MY24+, the Tacoma is only built in Mexico. Good try though!
TMMTX (Tundra) is still scab labor regardless. Better here than there, but not UAW.

And if you have been to san antonio, you know why those trucks aren't as good as the previous generation. People just dont care about saying they built something. All they care about is a check and go get drunk.

It was very hard to find good workers when my dad owned a company here in south texas. Almost all worthless workers who want to talk and smoke but not work until the boss walks up. I had so many people let go before lunch because they were useless.

I.would take the mexico built tacoma over a tundra

I stand corrected. I didn't know they moved to Mexico.

I understand what you're saying. I've always bought UAW made cars and trucks

Lots of times you don't have any choice. Check out the tires on your truck. I have Goodyear tires and they say Made In Mexico. I'll add a pic. I'm sure there are numerous other parts in our UAW assembled trucks from foreign sources. There are numerous items that I'm sure no U.S. manufacturer would want to get involved in making.

I ordered Side Window Deflectors from Weather Tech for my wife's Ford Fiesta. You know how Weather Tech does the big Made In USA push. The Side Window Deflector said, Made In Germany on them

Working with CODE-CWA but nothing official yet, it's been challenging to get things going when the whole industry is owned by P.E. chop shops who'll happily offshore the entire department.

I completely agree, but I try to direct my choices wherever I can.
Fortunately, Germany enshrines collective bargaining in their constitution, so it's not like things made there are undercutting Americans here; their entire industrial base is subject to labor agreements even if not everyone is a dues-paying member (though most are).

I read that Ford is getting hit harder with tariffs than some of the imported cars because the tariffs on imported parts is higher than for whole cars and Ford uses a lot of imported parts. It's 15% on cars but 25% on car parts. Oddly the tariffs on European built luxury cars like Bentley and Rolls Royce are only 10%, what's up with that?
