Funny thing is even the Australian market shows it as a SYNC 4A.

https://www.ford.com.au/support/dis...le/ranger/functions/how-to-nav-central-screen

There is definitely some disconnect here. I think it is easy to jump on the wagon we just have SYNC 4, but I suspect there is some reason why Ford is calling what we have as SYNC 4A but in a different form.

Not a cross I am going to die on, but just feels like there is a "gotcha" in all this as it seems weird that all the media and current website still claims 4A.

I lay down a challenge, every portrait (vs landscape) orientation infotainment screen in a 2024 Ford regardless of model or trim is sync 4a. Prove me wrong

Hi All, I asked my Sales Rep (Louis, nice guy) about this and here is what he states and he provided this doc from Ford.

"Frank this is what I had found regarding sync 4A your Ranger does have it. It is a standard feature on all Ranger trim levels."

Now, I will have to see if I can create those dash cards.

i’m starting to think your right. we do have 4A, it just looks a bit different that what other models that have 4A look like.
having said that- there could be an update coming.

(maybe said update will unlock trail turn assist)

maverick soon?, 3 classic Cadillacs, Miata, mustan
vertical screen and in the settings the options are also vertical not horizontal. (that’s what she said so who know?)
if I wanted to change a screen in my vehicle from horizontal to vertical, I'd let my daughter drive!

I few of us have clarified this, people just choose not to listen.

I was going to say something similar. It's all sync 4. The only difference was A was supposed to be horizontal instead of vertical (and I had those flipped already). At least that's how I remember it.

'A' is optimized for portrait mode if I recall correctly.

I was in that group of the misinformed. But just for a short while.

found out something- we may actually be on the revised version. from what i read on on f150 sites, ford removed the dash cards and some things due to it being very distractive to the driver.
so from what i sounds like- the stuff we are not seeing, is from the old version, we have the new version.
that’s what im concluding from what im seeing.

I got my 2.7 Lariat last Friday and my screen is the same as Blue Wolf's.

Update: I will leave this here as not to confuse the later post.
After more digging it seems to be wrong on many parts of it!
Strange so much detail would be written and completely wrong???
From everything I can find on Ford it seems the Rangers do have the 4a and it is the more advanced features, and even that has conflicting information.

For anyone that has not sorted this out yet, it is not as it seems at all.
Sync 4 is the more powerful hardware. Sync 4a is a cut down cheap version with less power and many features cut out.
The divergence begins with silicon. SYNC 4 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 application processor paired with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage. SYNC 4A relies on a less powerful MediaTek MT8666 chipset, 2 GB RAM, and 32 GB storage. Both run Ford’s proprietary Linux-based OS, but SYNC 4’s architecture includes a dedicated secure enclave for OTA updates and encrypted cloud authentication — absent in SYNC 4A.
