Sync 4A has OTA updates.

Ford Power-Up Version History

The version history of the Ford Power-Up updates for the Ford SYNC Version 4 and 4a hardware developed by Ford Motor Company began with the release of the 2021 Mustang Mach-E in December 2020. This was simply referred to as over-the-air (OTA) updates until May 2021 when Ford adopted the "Ford Power-Up" name.

Overview

The Ford Power-Up updates have the ability to upgrade the user interface as well as reprogram module firmware within the vehicle. Ford expects to produce 33 million vehicles with Power-Up capability by 2028. Not all vehicles have the same software layout due to the differences in the user interfaces. SYNC 4 comes with an 8 or 12 inch horizontally oriented main display while SYNC 4a comes with a 12 or 15.5 inch vertically oriented main display.

Yes, I would agree.
Although I copied that from a pretty good source, it is questionable on some aspects.

Now that I look more, the info is all over the place!
Even the conflicting info says 4 does not support advanced features such as 360 cameras and other ADS functions the ranger does have.
In the above post it says just the opposite.
On a Ford website video it does show only 4a supports onscreen manuals and a few other things that the Rangers definitely have so that would certainly make what is above seem wrong.

Do a lot of work for Ford but not in that department.
Have some management friends that should be able to do some checking for me so will post if can get some info directly!

So to summarize:
1) There's a shit ton of erroneous information regarding the differences between SYNC 4 and SYNC 4A.
2) The Ranger in all likelihood is equipped with 4A.

Yes, would say that is quit fair to say.
Even asking AI the answer changes depending on how you ask the question. That is pulling from many sources and it can't even figure it out in a clear manor.
What is clear is the Rangers have the latest version that supports many things that are not on earlier versions.
Seems as if much of the info was correct over time but latter all sorted of blended together after time and software revisions. Might also have some to do with other markets with cheaper cars we don't have in the US. I had an Escape in Turkey a couple months ago and it was notably different!
Soon sync 5 will/is out, that info is even more convoluted as it talks about adding many things that Sync already has! ( does seem to be a hardware upgrade)
For example:
"
Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto: SYNC 5 offers wireless connectivity, eliminating the need for cables and allowing for hands-free calls, messages, and apps.
These upgrades aim to provide a more intuitive and efficient driving experience, making Ford SYNC 5 a significant advancement in vehicle technology.

This seems to be more accurate as of function, note it does note the horizonal/vertical as many have said but with other changes as well.

as far as I can tell there is no sync 5 and the f150 2025 and 2026 has sync 4

if you are going to post something, please include the reference link

like this

I think you should simply delete all of this stuff or at least post a disclaimer that all of it is incorrect

future searches will find this and it will just echo on through the internet

Which 2025 Ford Models Will Feature SYNC 5

Ford is rolling out SYNC 5 across multiple 2025 models, including:

What’s New in SYNC 5?
Ford’s SYNC system has long set the standard for in-car connectivity, and with the arrival of its fifth-generation version, it introduces several significant upgrades aimed at enhancing convenience, entertainment, and overall driving experience.

1. Faster & More Responsive Performance
One of the standout improvements in SYNC 5 is its increased processing speed. Thanks to a more powerful chip, the system operates up to twice as fast as SYNC 4, ensuring smooth touchscreen interactions, quicker navigation calculations, and seamless app performance.

2. Enhanced Voiced Recognition
Ford has significantly upgraded its voice command capabilities. With advanced natural language processing, SYNC 5 understands more conversational commands, allowing drivers to control navigation, climate, and media with simple, natural speech. For example, saying “Find the nearest coffee shop” will pull up locations instantly without needing precise phrasing.

3. Larger, Customizable Touchscreens
Ford is rolling out larger display options, with some models featuring up to a 15.5-inch touchscreen. The system also supports a customizable home screen, enabling users to prioritize frequently used functions like climate controls, navigation, and media playback for quick access.

4. Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
SYNC 5 enhances smartphone integration by offering wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. No more fumbling with cables—drivers can seamlessly connect their phones for hands-free calls, messages, and apps.

5. 5G Connectivity & Over-the-Air Updates
With 5G network compatibility, SYNC 5 provides faster internet speeds, improving real-time navigation updates, music streaming, and cloud-based features. It also supports over-the-air (OTA) software updates, ensuring your Ford stays current with the latest improvements without requiring a dealership visit.

6. Multi-Device Bluetooth Pairing
For families or shared vehicles, SYNC 5 allows multiple Bluetooth devices to connect simultaneously. This means the driver can take calls while a passenger streams music, making for a more flexible entertainment experience.

7. Integrated Smart Home Controls
SYNC 5 introduces compatibility with popular smart home systems like Amazon Alexa and Google Home. Drivers can now control home lights, security systems, and thermostats directly from their Ford’s infotainment system.

8. Intelligent Navigation & Trip Planning
Navigation is smarter than ever with real-time traffic updates, predictive destination suggestions, and EV route planning for electric Ford models. The system can analyze driving habits and suggest optimized routes, helping drivers save time and energy.

I did post in several places the the information around is very convoluted with many contracting information online!

So no such thing? lots of conflicting information, for sure!
Did think about deleting the stuff that is almost certainly wrong, but to keep the later post even more confusion. Went back and added Notes; right in the first heading of the post.

Here is a dealer touting sync 5???

When checking my account I see this.
It might be in fact that v5 is actually a software update?
