Sync Updates

Anybody had a sync update yet? None on mine and it is version 23321 rev 1091. I keep up with them for the F150 at https://tonesto7.github.io/ford-pwr-up-info/.

Pretty sure the ford pass app will show the updates and you can download them to update manually via usb if you don’t have auto update option checked

Updates without OTA have to be done in FDRS and a Mongoose cable. My F150 wouldn't update OTA and I spent about 8 hours updating it. Many people had the same problem. Maybe they have it fixed on the Rangers. I'm surprised there hasn't been any updates yet.

Is there anywhere to report issues with the Sync system? It generally works for me but does some things that are very poorly designed/coded.

I haven’t had any, I thought they were going to have one in the fourth-quarter to update Apple Car Play problem.

It's been a few years, but I recall updating sync 3 on my 2019 ranger using a flash drive.

I remember those days. It's changed now. With FDRS, it's a combination of the Mongoose cable and a flash drive. The flash drive is loaded from FDRS and uploaded when the update is done to verify it was correct.

Did we lose a row of preset stations? I have a mix of FM/AM and satellite stations and I lost the last row. Noticed last week when I was using the next station button on the steering wheel and didn't get the stations I was expecting. Looked on the screen and sure enough, the last row is gone.

*Edit- Never mind, there's a setting that allows you to select the number of pre-set rows. My best guess is when I unplugged the battery to reset the "R" button not working, it also reset number of rows from 6 to 5. Just a guess, so many electrical hiccups in newer vehicles. Speaking of which, I think I'm on 4 or 5 times the "R" button stopped working and required a battery unplug.

Where is the usb port on the truck?

My Lariat has one right under the radio beside the wireless charger for the phone and also one in the back on the console below the cubby.

Having spent some time with the Ford SYNC system on my Raptor Ranger, I have to say… it’s a bit of a head-scratcher. Compared to other onboard systems, it’s buggy, not exactly user-friendly, and the CarPlay interface feels like it needs a tune-up. Honestly, I’m surprised this is Ford’s best offering.

And don’t even get me started on how touchscreen-dependent it is. On a vehicle with off-road suspension, trying to tap a button feels like playing Whack-a-Mole with a bouncing finger. Not exactly the safest or most practical setup!
