Hello My name is Jimmy. Im on the ranger 5g forum. I have 2021 xlt blue ranger.

Thinking about upgrading to a lariat 4 4 or raptor.

Last summer my wife got a 25 mustang gt premium. So it's my turn to upgrade.

Heavily considering raptor but might go with lariat.

Im just trying to find out if any previous issues carry over to the 6g rangers.

On my 21 ranger I had to have rear differential carrier replaced and half shaft at 42k miles

Now that I'm at 74 lk. Im getting noise when I let off the gas at 65 mph and continues to 35. Might be the front. Kinda sounds like it Could be the tires as well. Tread is at 5/32.

But anyway just wondering if anyone experience this on the 6g.

Picture when my ranger was around 10k

I'm coming up on 30K miles on my 2024 RR and I have had nothing but fun with it. My adventures and misadventures as it were in my "wannabe baja racer" have been a blast. I don't beat on it but it has spent a decent amount of time off road and in snowy conditions. I consider myself a mild hoonigan. Anyway, no issues, no mechanical failures, no weird noises, body is still tight with no notable rattles or squeaks. Surprisingly strong, even before the Ford performance tune. Highly recommend as a fun daily driver that can do anything you'll run into on a day to day basis.

Good to hear. Mine has been mostly daily driver. If I did get the raptor I would definitely go find an offload trail to a take advantage of it. Lariat I'm considering because of gas mileage plus I wouldn't have to worry about the fox shocks maintenance.

my buddy just got back from raptors on the rockies. he has a 19 f150 raptor and had his shocks rebuilt 1 month ago for like 2500 bucks. the second day of the event, one of his started leaking where the hose threads into the reservoir so he had to drop out of the last day of fun. boy was he mad.

and i would be too. thats a lot of money to rebuild something and have it leak a month later. they have a 1 year warranty on the rebuilds but he missed the last day of the event where he was invited to drive with the pro guys that lead the events. what a chance to... run with the A group.

he is going to the june event here in texas and i will try to go too. its at the cibolo ranch and aparently everyone does stuff in marfa so its like 8 hours from me. hopefully i have a long weekend from work to go because it looks like a blast. the texas raptor run is the name, i believe

I have 10K on my 2025 Lariat 2.3...got in November. Really like everything about it so far. There are a lot of conveniences & safety features that new vehicles have these days. I traded in a 2021 Jeep Gladiator & loved that but feel the Ranger is a better fit for me overall. Great gas mileage (near 30 on highways) and smooth ride. Hauled a camper (3500 +/-) to the Gulf (13-15 mpg) and back a few months ago. Recently added an ARE topper.

Good luck!

'24 XLT FX4 coming up on 23K trouble free miles. 6G, any model, is an obvious step up from 5G.
It's quieter, more power (2.7 V6) and rides better than my 5G RWD. Plus, the upgraded interior is nice.

I love mine, all 3 of them. LOL
I have not had any significant issues.

I watched this video from a guy that has 20K miles on his Ranger Raptor.
Says he still loves the truck and may keep it very long term.

Lariat is a good buy when or if significant rebates are available at the time of purchase.
Otherwise, the Raptor is better value for very little more money in terms of content and maybe most importantly residual value will always be well in favor of the Raptor. Only possible downside is the fuel economy if that is a concern at all, just know the Raptor is about 20-30% less efficient than the Lariat depending on engine choice for the Lariat.

I had a 19 Ranger. Fx4 I climbed mountains so it got beat to hell. At 75k miles it started to slip but tne bottom took alot of rock hits. I got 26500 on trade towards a 24 fx4 Maverick i paid 27500 for . It was nice in town and quite peppy but felt more like a car.
So when the 25 Rangers where getting good rebates i decided to take a hit and get a ranger.
I ended up getting 25,500 in trade on my Maverick and my 25 Ranger Fx4 2.7 that stickered for 46k i got for 37,200
Plus in idaho i got the trade in as a tax credit towards the purchase so i paid tax on 11,700
The 2.7 has a bit more pull than the 2.3 but seems a bit more nose heavy. I didnt notice much difference around town .

That sounds pretty fun. About 8 hours way too.

That' really sucks about the rebuild. Im trying to find a good build for a lariat but not much to pick from unless i drive far. Still thinking on raptor. Might end up impulse buying one while looking for lariat.

How are the fx4 on highway? Is it bouncy or smooth?

Yeah I've been watching alot of raptor videos. Im hesitant because of the gas mileage. But not completely ruling it out. I have a 2025 gt mustang and it's a gas hog.

If gas milage is a concern, the RR is not for you. If you want the most capable mid-sized truck that always puts a smile on your face, then buy one. I traded a Dark Horse in on my RR and like the truck better.

If you're not in a rush to buy, you could wait till the 2027 Ranger Tremor is released. Might be an in-between option in terms of decent off-road with better fuel economy than a Raptor.

the raptor still gets in the high teens on the highway, right? like 17ish? not like 13-15 like a v8 would?

i would be able to live with the gas mileage from a ranger raptor, or even a full size raptor just because of how awesome they ride and feel. if my 2017 nissan titan hadn't had so many mechanical issues, i would have lived just fine with it getting 13mpg because it was so comfortable and the 0-60 was 5.9, so it was a lot of fun to drive.

Lots of stops and starts in town, 13 to 14
Few stops in town 14 to 15
Hwy over 70 16.5 to 17
Hwy under 70 17.5 to 18.5

If driving into heavy wind on hwy mpg gets even worse.

THE raptor has a performance engine, but what really limits its mpg is the 4.27 rear axle ratio.
