If I might ask, why do you prefer the roll up cover to a foldable one?

Use of entire bed, doesn't block rear window, can roll it over taller item like blanket, metal slats make it uncuttable. Just gives more versatility.

The roll ups are pretty cool. I'd go that route, but I want to run my low Yakima rack above the bed cover. That's why I'm looking at a retractable. Retrax takes up a little more bed than Roll n Lock or Mountain Top, but not having a strap on the manual models probably makes up for that.
This is what I'm considering:


My concern is that it looks like I'll need the J-braces for even the rack I want to run. Based on the description online for the braces, I bet even a crossover tool box might require them. I'm using one in my current Ranger and was going to keep using it until I choose a bed cover.

I also prefer a rollup in case I need to stick something long through the rear slide window back to the tailgate. Rollup can be done but not with folding. Done it many times with trim from Menards to keep it from slapping around hanging past tailgate.

Absolutely. Let's you cover items with tailgate down. Or I've had trees laying from the cab to over tailgate and can lay the roll up cover over them without latching it down and they don't get so wind blown. It's really the most versatile top I've found.

I don’t expect 100% waterproof, but also don’t want to worry about clothing/camping gear etc getting wet.

I guess I'll find out. I've seen several Youtube videos of guys running these through car washes and they seem to do fine. If it absolutely needs to stay completely dry, then I'll transport it some other way.

Not sure about the rangers yet, but I have a Retrax pro on my 2019 platinum diesel f150. I like it, but learned tonneau covers aren’t as secure as I hoped. I parked my truck at my hotel in Houston during the last Mecum auction there, and some trash came by and pried up and ruined the tonneau cover to steal my tailgate and taillights. Worst thing was I bought a 69 Mach 1 that I had to haul home 6 hours with no taillights on my truck. I hope the thieves get what’s coming to them, maybe a 9mm from one of their other victims.

I had a 69 Mustang Couple, and a '69 Torino 351C. Had drivers license issues that ended when I bought my 73 F250 4x4.

Very little on hard rain or drive through car wash gets in at corners. They've redesigned since mine so I don't know if that's been fixed or not. But waterproof enough for my purposes.

Funny thing is insurance paid out so much that we fixed the truck and still had some left over, and we put the better looking Raptor taillights on it. It’s also kinda funny that we have only opened the tonneau cover on that truck a few times, because we have several other trucks to haul with, so our platinum diesel f150 might as well be a suv. Here’s some of the other mustangs we have. My favorite is either our 69 boss 429 or our 68 Licensed Eleanor.

I will be flying down from Alaska to Louisiana to pick up my Raptor, maybe I can swing by.
When I was 10 (1969), Muscle Cars were showing up all over Fairbanks Alaska. "The Judge," 383 Super Bee, GTX 440, Super Bird, and my favorite, my uncle's 1969 Mach 1, metal flake brown with light tan interior. I got to ride in the back, and was in awe.

I've had this cover on my 2016 Colorado for 7+ years. Still looks great and still works great. The cover doesn't flip against the window. There are struts. I think there's more bed space available than a roll up cover allows at the end of the bed. True, you lose the rear view. You would if you were hauling a tall load in the bed anyway. Never bothered me to use more side mirror. Customer Service is outstanding. Just make sure you keep the Serial Number of the bed cover.

Thanks to you know who these are about $500 than the one I got in 2019. I got the Line-x version which has their coating on the panels in '19. Not completely leak proof but happy with it all these years later. Will be pricing them for my Raptor which just went into production. The non-panel pieces are very suspect able to water spotting, home water is very hard outside doesn't run through softener and even the supposed spot free rinse at most car washes isn't much better. TBS it is what I will buy again. Also thinking that since Line-x premium coating only ads UV protection one could go with their standard because the cover is one 99% of the time

What are the advantages over a Bak-Flip?

The Ford Specs (W-500 dimension) show the Inside the rails bed width to be 62.4" for the 2024 Ranger and 61.4" for the previous generation Ranger. I don't know about the Ranger Raptor.
