I definitely want leather, but I’m willing to order a Katzkin interior for the XLT. Which amounts to about a $3K difference after paying for that (about $2K according to AI)

Adding the push-button start is nice, but not a deal breaker.

the main thing pulling me toward the Lariat is the 12” instrument cluster. When I drove the XLT, the 8” instrument cluster was really the only thing that bothered me. I drive a sports car now, and it felt cheap having that smaller display.

Every night the LED lights are a blessing. I’ve bought xlts and added lights to my 16 and that was around 2400.
in my 4Runner I tried half a dozen aftermarket headlights and while all were upgrade over stock, they all sucked. LED retrofit bulbs are illegal on road in most states

Both XLT and Lariat have LED lights. XLT is reflector and Lariat is projector. Here is an article about it. Is one much better than the other?

Yep, Ford performance LED projectors.
I drove both and after previous rides being projector led, unless options are out. I’ll never go back

Took my wife with me this morning to test drive a Lariat. wanted to make sure she could get in without running boards (she couldn’t). Also wanted to make sure she thought the seats were comfortable enough for long trips (They were).

You guys were right. I needed to drive both of them. While most of the extra stuff on the Lariat was nice, most of it wasn’t a “must have“ until I got to the 12” instrument cluster. For me, it was a significant improvement over the XLT’s 8”. Add in the leather and other upgrades to it and I’m there.

Before I left, I’d placed an order for a 2025 Velocity Blue Ranger Lariat, with rear lockers, tow package, and the Black Appearance package.

First, the dealer only had one Lariat in stock and I didn’t like the color. Then I found that they come with leather seats only, and in the summer in Virginia with 90+% humidity most days, that was a no go for me. I didn’t want most of the electronic gee-gaws in the XLT so I sure didn’t want any more added with the Lariat.

Bottom line for me is that the only Lariat upgrade I wanted was the headlights but I couldn’t justify all of the other stuff.

I love my XLT.

I went with the XLT mostly based on price. The XLT has everything I need and nothing I don't.
Going from an 03 F150 XLT and an 08 Impreza the Ranger is a vast improvement in just about every way. Having just retired I'm living on much less than when I was working. I put more than 50% down and have pretty low monthly payment.

IMHO the XLT is better because:

1. Way cheaper
2. Better looking wheels
3. Cloth interior
4. Keyed ignition (yes I prefer keys over push button starts)
5. Single zone climate (I never understood dual climate when air is circulating everywhere...)
6. Slightly smaller infotainment
7. Less integrated technology

That's everything I can think of just off the top of my head. What can I say? I'm a basic bish.
I too ordered the XLT. I also don't like the lariat wheels at all. The main reason: I don't like leather (pleather in the Ranger).
I did however order all the tech I could. 2.7 V6, side steps, running boards, Advanced Trailer Towing with Tech. +, option package 301A, locking rear, 4x4

301A gets you the best goodies:
  • XLT High (301A) Includes all XLT (300A) Features, Plus:
    • 10-Way Power Driver Seat including Power Lumbar
    • 8-Way Power Front Passenger Seats including Power Lumbar
    • Heated Front Seats
    • Power-Sliding Rear Window
    • 12” Display In Center Stack
    • Dual-Zone Electronic Climate Control

So…
…I ordered a 2025 Velocity Blue Lariat with the Locking Differential, spray on bed liner, and the Black Appearance package.

Thanks for all of the advice everyone. In the end, I was indifferent about the seats, headlights, audio system. What sold me on the Lariat was the extra safety features and comforts that would convince my wife that this would be more comfortable on trips than her Subaru Ascent. Also, the bigger instrument cluster was a big deal for me.

Super excited for it to show up (hopefully 3 months from now).

Congratulations on your decision and purchase; you’re gonna love it.
