It will probably require minor trimming of front fender liners. There is a minor rub at 3/4 lock and in reverse its grabbing a little bit. Will try to get it sorted.

That looks pretty good. A level lift will make it look really, really good. I love that color.
Yeah I'd like a 2.5"F 1.5" R... I'm thinking I will go with the Eibach set with the reservoir shocks on the rears.

Creating a picture thread for wheel/tire fitment. If it gets traction maybe it can be stickied?

Hopefully other forum members can learn what fits and what doesn't as well as what to expect when making their purchase.

Post:
-Your truck trim (XL,XLT, 2WD, 4WD, Raptor, FX4, Lariat, 2.3L/2.7L)
-Pictures
-Tire size (and manufacturer/model if you'd like)
-Wheel specs (and manufacturer/model if you'd like)
-Lift type (stock, leveled etc)
-Any modifications required (trimming etc)

What kind of MPG are you getting? I’m looking to replace my older 4runner for a FX4 Ranger this year. I had a Ranger FX4 level 2 in the early 2000s & liked it over the Tacoma’s of the early 2000s. I like those stock 17” wheels on the new trucks. I wanted to keep them & put bigger tiers on it being that the stock tires are a little small & from my understanding not good in the wet & snow. I’m in SLC too & want something better in the wet & snow. As well as something a little bigger for all the back roads & trails here in UT. I’m looking for a 32” tier. I have Falken Rubitrek 265-70-R17 on my truck now but think I want to get a 275-70-R17 or maybe a 255-80-R17. I like the way your truck sits in the 275-70R17 tiers.

Thanks. I go between SLC & northern Montana a lot sprint through early fall & was wandering about MPG because of that. 24-25 mpg with bigger tiers is a lot better than my 4runner getting around 17mpg. Thanks for the info. I’ve owned a few ARE shells in the past & liked them. I’m going between metal shell & Fiberglas shells. I do want a roof rack for paddle boards & Home Depot runs. Are you happy with the Smart Cap?

When researching potential tires, I discovered most LT275/285 section tires were in the 51-56 pound range. By selecting a non-LT tire, the weight of a standard (XL rated) Toyo Open Country RT 275/70R17 is 42 pounds. This makes a noticeable difference in fuel economy and my real world experience is that the 32 inch Toyo tires provide identical fuel economy to the Goodyear 255/70R17 tires Ford installed at the factory. I had one tire store tell me the Toyo’s only came in the LT load range. I went to another tire store and they had my non LT’s ready to install in 24 hours. I had a Snugtop shell on my last Ranger and while it was a good shell, the Smart Cap is very well constructed and keeps everything inside away from prying eyes. I am a hunter and have that necessary equipment safely locked up inside with no windows to give away what is inside. The side-opening doors are helpful when you need something that you have stored in the front area and don’t have to climb over everything to get there. Expensive, but worth it in my opinion.

Thanks for the info on the tires. That is a big help thanks. Being that most of my driving is around town, road trips & just weekends on back roads 33” is over kill for me & a little extra lift for the tires size for now will get me 90% of the places I want to go. I’m just starting to look at shells. I want a Rack & the side opening windows would be nice as well. I’m looking at the different metal shells trying to see what the big differences may be between them. I do think the Smart Caps look the best but open to look at all of them. I’ve been trying to look into suspension but there is not a lot out there in the US. I’m not interested in a leveling spacer kit at all. I have Bilstein 5100 on my current truck & have been happy with them. I’ve been looking at other options & it’s hard to justify with the kind of driving I do. Also, the 5100 hold up for a long time.

One other metal shell you might consider is from RLD Design, a very similar shell to the Smart Cap and also made in South Africa. I looked at them and while I ended up going with the Smart Cap, many buyers rate them highly.

Probably a stupid question but did you change the spare under the truck? or keep that stock? If in the off chance you do a get a flat, can you add the smaller tire and at least get it to the shop without messing up anything ..besides alignment

How's the sound when compared to stock? Did you even notice any difference besides better traction. LOL I've always been a fan of Open country line. My ladies CRV has the OC HT, my XJ has OC AT II

Marginally louder than the original Goodyear Wranglers but not enough to really notice. The original spare tire is in place. I can’t remember the last time I had to use a spare tire. Probably fine for a short trip as needed.

Hi. Is there any rub at full lock or reverse? I've noticed on some 265s that they get really close to the knuckle... I have the same Ranger model.
