Well that's concerning. My truck was making a whirring noise in the same speed bracket. It only did it one day and hasn't since.Aside from what I mentioned, I did the same as you and verified it wasn't an engine related issue. I took a video one night to document the noise since it isn't there when the truck is cold (posted earlier in this thread). Sure enough dealer took it out, didn't hear the noise. I showed them the video and explained it needed to be driven. So they gave it to a porter and had him drive for about 25 miles on a nearby interstate. Tech heard it after doing that.
It was most evident starting around 35 mph when decelerating and was loudest between 25 and 15 - continuing all the way down to a stop. At it's worst, about a week after I first heard it with the windows down, I finally heard it in the cabin but only because I had been riding with no radio so I could try and get some more info.
Initially, I thought it might be a bearing or at the very least something in the driveline. So far so good with the fix.
Here's the part that was replaced.

Good afternoon, Alex. Would you please send over a private message with your VIN and dealer info so I can look into this whistling noise concern?I dont think its the same thing but posting here because of the title. I have just under 700 miles on mine and heard a high pitched whistle when I started the truck in the garage yesterday. It went away after the idle came down and I started driving. But it did it again when I started the truck today, and again, went away when the idle came down.
Although I'm sure everyone appreciates when Ford asks did this stuff but I never see a response or resolution. I've had cases open and still no word from anyone once a case is open. Just saying.Good afternoon, Alex. Would you please send over a private message with your VIN and dealer info so I can look into this whistling noise concern?
Glad it worked out for you.Well magic. Replaced the parts mentioned here and NO MORE NOISE. Thanks Carbon6G for all your help. After showing your posts to the dealer parts ordered overnight and put in today. So day one perfect. It also reduced the front end vibrations as well. Amazing. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for posting this. My Ranger is doing exactly this. It's very disheartening since it is new and expensive AND my road trip coming up will likely have to be postponed. Freaking Ford. Get your $#it together. Not sure if you have a 4x4, but at 1100 miles had to have the front drive shaft replaced. Only showed up after driving for a little bit, not when cold.
Can you tell me what the dealership diagnosed exactly so I can hopefully expediate the repair process? Not sure if you have a 4x4, but at 1100 miles had to have the front drive shaft replaced. Only showed up after driving for a little bit, not when cold.
See post #12. It has the part they replaced. They didn't go into detail other than the front driveshaft was the issue. The hardest thing is getting them to drive it so it can be replicated since most of the time dealers blindly drive it and say they can't find anything wrong. Can you tell me what the dealership diagnosed exactly so I can hopefully expediate the repair process?
Roger that. I'm going to try and have it warmed up, making the noise when I drop it off. I'm just curious to know what was happening with the front drive shaft and if its safe to be using on driving trips.See post #12. It has the part they replaced. LOL, in this situation, offer to drive it yourself. Do you really want some clueless minimum wage lot guy driving your new truck in traffic? If they did that to me without asking for permission first, I would find a new dealer….So they gave it to a porter and had him drive for about 25 miles on a nearby interstate.
Trust me, I did. I offered when I dropped it off.LOL, in this situation, offer to drive it yourself. Do you really want some clueless minimum wage lot guy driving your new truck in traffic? If they did that to me without asking for permission first, I would find a new dealer….
