I'm a couple of months into my Ranger ownership, and my wireless Apple CarPlay is no longer working. A couple of weeks ago, I plugged my phone into the USB-C port, which changed the phone from wireless to wired CarPlay. I needed to charge my phone a bit faster, but now it no longer connects to CarPlay wirelessly. When I select CarPlay on my phone from the device list, it cycles a bit and ultimately fails to connect.

I have:

* Deleted the phone from the Ranger
* Deleted the Ranger from my phone
* Re-paired both devices
* Disconnected the 12v battery to do a full reboot
* Factory reset the infotainment system

I want to avoid resetting my iPhone as a further troubleshooting step. At some point I'll try to do a connection using my wife's, but was curious if anyone else has encountered this and found a fix.

Everything else seems to work fine, including the bluetooth connection to the phone when I'm not using wired carplay.

Does CarPlay still work for you when you have the phone plugged into the usb-c port, or does it not work using either wired or wireless?

Not on my 2025 Ranger Raptor

but my previous truck was a 2021 Colorado ZR2 and wired Apple CarPlay gave it fits

eventually took it to the dealership and they had me change the “name” I had given to my IPhone

it contained the word “IPhone” as in “Jamie IPhone”

they had me remove it and that fixed it

service guy told me every time I connected it to the Chevy version of CarPlay it “thought” my phone was another iPhone and created a new iteration of IPhone……when you looked on the right screen it showed I had 88 versions of IPhone, which confused the heck out of it

Oh weird - It's not the set of symptoms I'm encountering but it won't hurt so I'll give it a shot

(Obligatory 'buy an Android' shitpost)

I second the comment about renaming your phone. No idea why, but that worked in my F150 when wireless would connect for a half a second, if at all. Way better option than resetting your phone.

And my ZR2 was very temperamental about the sequencing had to go thru

As I recall, it went something like this

Rename your IPhone

disconnect your phone from USB cable

turn Bluetooth off on your phone

turn off the truck

turn it back on

go into the truck’s phone setting and delete the IPhone and its associated 88 iterations (fortunately this was just one touch command)

go into CarPlay on your phone and “forget” your truck

turn Bluetooth back on your phone

“pair” your phone and truck again

go back into CarPlay on your phone and select your truck again

test it by having someone call you and see if you can answer the car on your truck’s touchscreen

If not…..cuss your truck and CarPlay

try it again

still no workee….go to dealership. I didn’t need an appointment. Fortunately my dealership had a certain dude that was a CarPlay whisperer…he originally got mine to work and showed me how he did it

I've seen this with multiple Apple CarPlay stereos, with no commonality between the car and the stereo. I've owned two different stereos and I rent a lot of cars in my work. The only commonality is the iPhone.
I resolve it by turning off Bluetooth, on the iPhone, waiting 5 seconds, and turning Bluetooth back on. Kid you not, I will say "Siri turn off Bluetooth," wait 5 seconds, and say "Siri turn on Bluetooth," and it works.

For what it's worth. My wireless Android Auto always disconnects and never can maintain connectivity.

Tried renaming the phone and unpairing to no avail. Frustrating.
