Towing works out better with a longer wheel base so I would say the Ranger is better for you than the Everest. Me I was trying to avoid the soccer mom looking vehicle, I'm even reluctant to put a camper shell on it because of looks. Now that I have it I wouldn't trade my RRaptor in for an Everest, but if Ford had released an Everest Tremor alongside the new Ranger I probably would have bought that instead.
An SUV would work better for my needs, but nothing on the market really made sense. I would have bought the new Land Cruiser if they weren't stupid expensive. I have zero interest in the Explorer. Previous 4Runner doesn't have the towing capacity I need, if the new 4Runner had been announced I might have waited for that.
I agree on the Bronco, I consider the removable doors and tops a negative. I prefer the Everest, although I think the Bronco is more capable do to its fenders and suspension options. My issue is I don’t use the bed that often, particularly for anything I couldn’t grab in the back of an SUV. In many ways a SUV is better for hauling dogs, though she usually just rides in the back seat anyways. Yet in the midsize segment for Ford, they offer only the Ranger. I am, or was, a truck guy. I just don’t haul that much anymore.
So I’ll take my Everest in Platinum please. Be down to my dealer check in hand the day after the announcement haha. But really. The expedition is a size too large. The explorer, though I had one & liked it probably better than what I have now, has become a 3 row family wagon. The Bronco sacrifices too much in comfort & practicality for a cool look & removable roof. So I can choose the Ranger for a midsize BOF offering at Ford. Or look across the street at Toyota where I can choose a 4R, LC, or even GX (ok that one’s a few mins drive on the freeway not just across the street).
I assume Ford has run the numbers enough that it doesn’t make sense to add T6 platform production in N.America. So I can’t have my Everest & others can’t have their 6’ supercab Ranger. Still. Ford has the worldwide offerings to go head to head with what Toyota can offer. Do it!
You can only get a cheaper model extracab Tacoma, otherwise I'd probably be driving a Tacoma. My issue is I don’t use the bed that often, particularly for anything I couldn’t grab in the back of an SUV. I just recently discovered the Ranger Everest and I'm drooling! I want one, but it seems there's only been some chatter a few years ago about bringing it to the US, but that narrative seems to have diminished. I love this thing.I keep seeing people say the Everest will never come to the US because of the Bronco and Explorer. I think that's a garbage reason, but an unfortunately true assessment. Still, I would love one because it checks all the boxes for a capable overlanding rig that's also nice enough for city use. I'd be hard pressed not to trade in my Raptor for an Everest Tremor. Anyone else here feel the same way about the Everest? Would you consider or buy one if available in the US?
