Well, I did it again. For the 3rd time in 4 years, I packed up my truck and left Atlanta to hit the trails of Moab with a fun detour through Colorado. I had previously done this twice before in my 2-door Bronco which you can see in my post here: https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/thre...to-southern-utah-from-atlanta-georgia.101783/
I brought along my friends in their 89 Comanche and 2011 Xterra Pro-4X (6speed).
About 20 miles outside Moab, I had a lovely little pebble jump up from the highway and crack my windshield, lovely start to the week.
We camped at Sand Flats and hit Fins & Things, Top of the World, and the full trifecta of Poison Spider, Golden Spike, and Gold Bar Rim. Finished off with the Shafer Trail for an easier day after the 9.5 hour trifecta the previous day.
Despite a worse departure angle than my Bronco, the Ranger Raptor exceeded even my expectations. I was not kind to it and I pushed it to its absolute limits, at least when it comes to crawling.
I got through nearly every major obstacle but Body Snatcher got me as you can see in the photos. The 20° RCI sliders did wonderful with the added clearance. The Foutz skid plates took a beating, but held up well. Any plastic covers over the rear links and fuel tank were destroyed. So I’ll be finding more durable alternatives.
I already had the tow plug relocation kit from American Adventure Labs, however I procrastinated and didn’t do that before the trip. I ended up tucking the plug with a zip tie and the metal protective cover for it was pancaked.
After we had our fill of Moab, we headed East to Ouray, CO and immediately hit Black Bear Pass into Telluride before any more rain came through- sketchy AF.
Then we headed home.
My only suspension mods include Icon front coilover spacers, Eibach 500lb rear springs, and the Apex airLYNX adjustable sway bar links.
I also have my ARB twin air compressor mounted via the SDHQ mount in the rear fender + my personal switch & chuck setup in the bed.
ENJOY THE PHOTOS!
