Just remember everyone, the release of the global market variants has been occurring for six + months. New trims/nameplates, new features and new combinations of engine, body etc are still happening. Ford do not just chuck it all out there on day one. We know for a fact that a long wheelbase model exists, I've seen the prototypes driving around here in Melbourne, and we know a hybrid of some sort is coming. Give them time.

I have mixed feelings. I think the front end looks decent on upper trims. I think current gen looks better. Raptor looks good with the bumper, but I am way over the F O R D grille. I think the rear seat was a poor effort seeing it was often given low marks on current gen for being single bench with lack of storage. Ford just said "FU" and was like, "oh look it'll lay flat if you put a little effort in it". The interior otherwise looks really nice. I wish the truck was lighter, but instead it gained a little weight. The 2.3L is a great capable engine, but in a truck this heavy the 2.7 should get as good or better real world mileage. I am assuming they switched to the 10R60 like the Bronco? Ford seems to be being coy by simply stating 10 speed auto whatever like they did with the Bronco. I almost traded my F-150 on a 2023 Tremor, but financing the same amount I financed 2 years go my payment would have went up by $150 because the interest rate is 5% higher and that is with great credit. No thanks. I'll watch the market continue to cool and wait for dealer discounts and factory rebates. They are coming in the near future as lots are starting to get more inventory daily. Unless the manufacturers all stick together and limit supply via plant shutdowns etc. I think it would be crazy to order anything in this economy. Even at MSRP.....no way, it's gonna be a consumer market again real soon.

I think this is a fair assessment if future model improvements were a guarantee.

What Ford has put forward here is such an underwhelming offering. The Bronco reveal set the automotive world on fire. The Maverick reveal, while not as strong, also stirred some souls with it’s offering and low price tag. This? This is essentially the exact same truck model that it’s replacing. Like a mid model refresh rather than an all new. The RRaptor variant is the only big upgrade (love those diff lockers).

Why this is annoying to me is that I think everyone else largely feels the same. If you (“you” in general, not calling anyone out specifically) say “wait for what’s coming next” you’re essentially admitting what is here isn’t all that it should be. That makes me think sales in the US on this will likely be sub-par, and Ford brass will axe any additional models like a crew cab long bed option.

Seriously. Crew cab long bed. I would’ve jumped at that upgrade! I don’t want a full size truck, but I need more than a 5’ bed for motorcycles in the bed.

I’m seriously concerned this model isn’t gonna pay off enough for Ford to keep introducing more options in a couple of years.

This unveiling needed something special that wasn’t a $56k starting price. Didn’t get that.

I hope my concerns prove wrong, and I eat significant crow as I buy a future Ford mid size.

Ford global revealed the Raptor months after the standard vehicle, the Platinum months after that, and most recently only a few weeks ago, the Wildtrak X. We're still getting trim levels come out even now, and they've been delivering them for six months.

The launch in Australia was also underwhelming, it was basically the PX3 model line, minus a few trim levels (FX4 Max, Wildtrak X). The only big changes here were the V6 diesel and the Raptor getting the Ecoboost V6. People felt exactly how you do, until they drove the vehicles and realised how much better they are in reality than the outgoing models.

I hope you’re right, but the Ranger is more popular overseas than in the States. I feel like the battle for the Ford Ranger is more uphill here than it is in other markets. So using the same strategy in the States that was used globally seems inappropriately risky. Again, I’ll be happy to be wrong.

Super Crew, short bed only misses the target for me. Only hope now is they continually roll out more options over time like the rest of the world :frown: How is a fleet buyer or tradesman supposed to prefer this over alternatives with a $34k starting price? Head scratcher there. At least this takes the pressure off to move fast on early ordering.
Looks like it will get a scab, at least, and maybe even a crew with 6' bed.

I like what I'm seeing so far, but will wait for a hybrid, if I upgrade at all. I have a 2020 scab now, and it's fine, other than outdated design. I like the tech, but glad the new model has a lot of new stuff.

Part of the context is that the launch itself was already delayed by a year or two. If you have a vehicle you currently enjoy and it’s newer, you can be just fine waiting another year or two until options you want come along. But for some of us, we’ve already waited 1-4 years longer than we would have liked to see and perhaps buy the new Ranger. So asking an additional 1-2 years to get the options you want is a significant punch to the gut. That’s compounded even further if your current vehicle is dying and/or you only buy a new vehicle once every 10+ years. If you buy a new vehicle every couple years, it’s no big deal to you.

5 years actually. Our sales guy told me in 2018 when buying our F-150, not to jump on the 2019 Ranger at introduction because there was a NEW Ranger coming right behind it. I'm retired since 2014 and bought my Grand Cherokee in 2013 and it's been my dd ever since. Bought our RV new in 2004 and keeping until the wheels fall off. Have a barn full of MX and street motorcycles dating back to the 1970's. Finally bought the Maverick last year as a placeholder waiting for the Ranger, or alternatively as a hedge against not being able to buy a new truck in my lifetime that didn't have breathalyzer, mileage driven modems and other invasive tech now mandatory.

I learned years ago not to tie any other condition or situation in my life to having a specific vehicle by a certain date. Queue Rolling Stones here: You can't always get what you want.

if you were expecting them keep 6 foot alive... i have bridge to sell you. I don't see Tacoma either. If they do,... That will be huge . Finding out theirs no auto 4x4 except raptor is kinda bizarre. That shouldn't happen in 2023. No bed steps as standard equipment. A zonk. The 2023 rangers are looking pretty good right now.
Well it's not just no auto 4x4 except on the Raptor, but the standard 4x4 doesn't even have low range anymore. You have to pay extra for that! That is if a Motortrend article I read is accurate.

The Hilux, DMax, BT50 and Navara all offer extremely strong competition, with the Hilux being the Ranger's largest rival. Here in Australia the Ranger and Hilux are the two top selling vehicles in the country.

I hear you but also want to point out that the NA market saw the global launch almost a year and a half ago! After seeing the 6G Raptor, Wildtrak X and Temor released in other markets most of us are clearly disappointed in was what revealed today. One cab/bed configuration and none of the other off-road oriented models except the Raptor. As hot as the factory built off-road and overland (Trailhunter) scene is, how can we NOT be disappointed and underwhelmed at this point!

To be honest I don’t think MAP is ready to produce this truck with demand still high for the Bronco and purposely launched a limited and bland truck to keep demand in check with production capability. Instead of growing interest and excitement I’m seeing plenty of disappointment and frustration. Myself included!

Take me for an example
I have been driving nothing but Ford trucks since fall of ‘93. Been wanting to replace my ‘02 F-150 SuperCrew since the Ranger came back to the NA market but no SuperCrew Longbed. So I wait since the rest up the segment sucked. Yeah, new 6G Ranger, but only one configuration
. WHAT!?!?!
It’s now looking like Toyota is the only one paying attention to what the NA midsize market wants. Let’s just hope they have fixed the last generation’s numerous shortcomings. But this Ford guy is likely bailing and frankly it just stinks!!!!

You said it perfectly!!! Me waiting as long as I have and my daily driver being a 21+ year old F-150 SuperCrew. I too felt like I was punched in the gut this morning! Super disappointed and even a little pissed off to be honest. Underwhelmed is an understatement!
