My F150 currently has the 3.5 Twin turbo
I have driven a F150 2.7TT and it had plenty of power.
I would think the 2.7TT in a Ranger would give plenty of power.

nobody disputes if the 2.7 would provide plenty of power, and the same argument valid for the 2.3. The difference is whether the extra wait and cost of the 2.7 is a better value and driving experience over the lifetime ownership of your truck.

Each of us will make that decision for our own reasons.
I personally feel the cost is worth the value and driving experience and I have waited before for what I want.
I just do not want a 2.3 4cyl in a mid size pickup. The V6 option moved my interest to the Ranger.

That .4 liters doesn't make much difference overall. If you think about it, the 6 cylinders are actually smaller then the 4 cylinder cylinders.

I can understand what you are saying.
The 3.5 V6 changed my mind from a V8
The turbo ecoboost engines are peppy
I had a 1986 Thunderbird turbo coupe with a 2.3 pinto engine I called a pinto on steroids.
But I still want the Ranger with the 2.7 V6

Yes, of course it has slightly more, it has 2 more cylinders even though they are smaller. What I was saying is the V6 has more moving parts to fail for minor power increases. As it is the 10r60 transmission taps out at 430ft/lbs.

It just isn't needed in a truck that size unless you are towing heavy, which is where the power/lower revs is helpful. At the end of the day you get what you want, I was just stating the differences.

Consider a Frontier? Standard V6 and widely available on lots everywhere. Destination charges built into the competitive MSRP, and more standard features than 2024 Ranger. I'll get either that or the Ranger if they come out with SCab + 6' bed option before I die.

~442.5 ft/lbs, and the Raptor uses it as well with the 3.0L V6, which is slightly higher torque than the 2.7L ecoV6.

I understood what you meant and was not saying you were wrong. So do not take it that way.
Notice I agreed with you about the bigger piston/bore and longer stroke of the 2.3
Yes I would consider 5000 lbs. towing heavy which is why I prefer the 2.7
That is why we can both get what we want.
Yes the 2.7 may not be needed but there are those who want it.

its a 1500 dollar option on the F150 over the standard V6 so i suspect it will be similar for the ranger.
if so... its definitely worth it. 375 ft lbs torque + 3.73 gears = properly quick.

hey, whatever works for you In my case, I'm more focused on getting the body configuration (SCab + 6' bed) 2 WD with tow package and locking rear differential than an upgrade on the standard motor. I already have a Maverick with 2.0L Turbo AWD w/tow and it is properly quick as well - especially in Sport mode! My needs are a mid-size with ability to use as my Daily Driver in better weather months, hauling my dirt bikes to local off roading spots, camping, and occasional road trips pulling my mini toy hauler. I'll take the better MPG and 2WD that will do everything needed and am sure the 2.3L will be plenty for me.

I’m waiting on the 2.7 too. I’m on the dealer list to call when it comes available. They check in with me every month saying nope not available to order, we will text you next month. I’m also hoping they add push button start. It’s 2024 soon come on now.

I have the 2.7 in my 2 door Bronco. It’s an amazing engine. Plenty of power and just recently got the Ford Performance tune. It now shifts so much quicker, no turbo lag, and has more low end torque. My only concern when the Ranger releases the 2.7 it will be north of 55k by the time you build and price.
