Here's some Azure pics if you're curious. I was/am super close to picking up a 2023, but have convinced myself it's worth waiting for the 2024. It's a really nice color, dark/light shades depending on lighting and angle, but a nice calm blue.

Finally put in an order for this exact truck in a 2024. Lariat, FX4, etc. Hopefully strike ends soon and they get trucks out the door

Yeah it was one of those of course its us type moments. The article also mentioned the reason being to hurt Ford more by pushing people to the Tacoma.

I am in development so I’m just going through the definition terms on explaining it. I don’t know how the process works. I do know that our pre-production units in testing are not built at the factories, cannot be sold, and get crushed at the end of their life. I think how these work at least from going through the VIN’s background, these are built by the plant to be sold to Ford. I know that might sound weird but this is just how it works even for us. These carry a real actual VIN but will likely never be sold publicly. Media reviewers will get them as will Leadership Level Ford employees for company lease vehicles. For all intents and purposes these are a production vehicle, just not mass production (Job 1)
My Focus is one of these cars. Built in Feb '11 as a '12, owned by FoMoCo, and sold used at a Ford dealer with 20k on the odometer. Best car I've every owned in terms of reliability, probably because it was built before Job 1. The QC is probably through the roof during this run.

Yes QC is critical on these vehicles for obvious reasons. All the testing and development is converged to this moment to make sure it’s ready for mass production. You get a freshly trained staff that are usually seasoned to begin with on this process. It’s not quite cherry picked as it’s still production equivalent material but it’s the best it’s going to get for sure.
