Are VINs assigned only on Thursdays?

Howdy. No vin/build date scheduled for me last week. That probably means June/July for next lottery try?

I just ordered a Ranger Lariat, chrome, FX4, advance tow, azure grey (some other adds) last week on March 19, 2024. Dealer told me yesterday (March 25) they already had a VIN and May 20 build.

Allocations only matter if you ordered a Raptor. There is no such thing as an allocation for a regular ranger because they aren't a limited build.
Not true. Dealerships get weekly and monthly allocations of all vehicles and then place orders accordingly for stock.

They will typically put a retail order in and just let it sit until there is an allocation match and it's pulled. But it will not be pulled by Ford until there is an allocation match for that dealer.

Allocation is not just unit and series specific, but also commodity specific. And this can vary by sales region. Example 4x4 might be available up north, but not down south if there is a ltd quantity of a 4x4 related commodity.

If there are commodity constraints in the region, or your dealer does not have allocation for your unit on order, it will never be pulled or built until there is.

Dealers shouldn't be accepting orders if theydon't havean allocation in the first place.
I agree to disagree. If they have reason to think or knowledge that they will for sure have allocation in the near future, it doesn't hurt to get your order in. However, they should be honest about this upfront, so you know the situation and can make an educated decision.
