It is also illegal in many of the states. I know in California its 6 inches beyond the line of the fender.

In my state (Nevada) we do not have any fender laws but we do have a width law. No vehicle can exceed 108in(274cm) from outside width of both tires.

So yeah, depends on your jurisdiction laws and if you want to spend that kind of money.
