Because the factory mount looks like arse mounted at the top of the front bumper. I figured out a way to mount the factory plate mount upside down and it lowered the plate about 6". It looked good but blocked the collision assist sensor so the adaptive cruise and collision assist didn't work.

I don't think he was "hostile" just stating his opinion. I agree with him, if you have a stock location use it, if you don't why bother? If you really feel like you have to run a front plate then the sky's the limit, aftermarket plate brackets, windshield, whatever. Don't get touchy when someone gets a little frustrated when folks don't understand their point of view. Re-stating your point to try and get someone to understand can be a real pain in the butt sometimes.@HyperM3 wow, why so hostile in your reply ? to each their own.....if someone wants to run a different license plate mount then who cares?.....you said "paying for another mount when the stock one is free is stupid"....I could same the same thing about your fugly bronze rims "why pay for aftermarket rims when the stock ones are free".....we'll all allowed to "mods" our trucks the way we see fit......chill out and have fun and be productive......I'm hating this 6G forum already!!...the 5g forum was MUCH nicer!!
and yes, I never ran a front plate on my Porsche I just sold.....never got pulled over but then again it was a much nicer car and didn't want to drill holes and was willing to risk it.......but this truck I want to run a front plate...just not the stock one...
You have been lucky not getting stopped by the hwy patrol. Anything that gives police a reason to pull you over can create a problem, such as the open beer in the truck. Having a license plate doesn't take away much of the beauty of your truck, but a remote tuck away plate mount is available. I had one on a corvette and when going to a show like cars and coffee just hide the plate with a push of a button.
A hide away plate is generally more illegal then not running a front plate at all as it shows intent to actually hide the plate, where as simply not running it has various plausible deniability. Most states will not enforce the 2 plate law as a pull you over offense, but more of a tack on ticket. Cops will pull people over for whatever, so its not like you are providing an avenue for them to do it, they can just do it regardless.
