Now that the 2.7 is finally becoming available(weeks?) Before the end of the model Year? Why no reviews, Drivers test on these vehicles? Maybe because the Rangers are so hard to get what you want? Customers waiting weeks ,months. A year to get a vehicle they ordered? People get tired of waiting. Change brands
This is a likely reason why the ranger is the slowest selling mid size truck. As far as mid size trucks. In the last few weeks I think I've saw references to 2 owners that had 2.7 trucks delivered on the forum. I have saw 2 advertised at dealers relatively close to me. It also concerns me that if you have to wait months on a new truck. If you new truck has a breakdown. How likely are you to get parts to fix it in a timely fashion if they are having problems building, delivering new trucks use same parts

I am beginning to consider a late model , low miles ,used 3rd gen tacoma even though I prefer the 24 ranger in most ways. I could always get most r all my $ back on Tacoma if I didn't like it. Also I'm not to sure about many local ford dealers as far as maintenance. In the last 10 yrs very good luck with my Toyota dealer. Lots of my local Ford dealers have lots of bad reviews, especially maintenance related.

Did you mean to post this on the Ranger Raptor sub-forum?

  • 2.7s I believe were in Job 2 of this year, so they just started making those.
  • Rangers share the same factory as the Bronco and its the first year of the Ranger in the US. Its slow because of both of those reasons and also because the price point is very close to a top end Mav or lower end F150. The ranger will never sell gang busters because its the middle child.
  • Parts for ANY new vehicle are in short supply across all manufacturers. This is not unique to Ford or the Ranger.
  • Dealers are all over the place and a persons definition of bad is not the same. You need to read between the lines on some of the stuff to see if its actually good. You can generally get the feel of the dealer by visiting and see how the sales staff and such are. If the Sales team is good and not jerking you around, then generally the service area is also on the up and up, but you wont know till you go.

Yes meant to post here. As far as the 2.7. If you have something people like and want, they should advertise, but not tease, as far as availability. Ranger is still my preference.

When I'm ready to buy, I may check out service dept. And talk to a few customers.

I'd buy the Frontier before I bought a used Tacoma.

Why ask about non RAPTOR on RAPTOR thread intentionally?

Pretty much all of this. My lot only has 2 Rangers and neither is the 2.7. And none coming any time soon. Ford has been pretty slow getting them built and out to dealers. Hopefully that will pick up, but for right now that's where we're at.

Availability is definitely location dependent and I certainly can't speak to those who special ordered theirs, but in the Midwest they're becoming available on lots. I purchased my 2.7 XLT High ~2 weeks ago off a lot outside of Columbus, OH and it was one of two 2.7s they had in stock. There were other 2.7s closer but not with the options I wanted.

The delays for this truck were long, but it honestly worked out for me because I had my heart set on a Gladiator then found my wife couldn't fit in the driver's seat comfortably (why it won't go back further I have no idea) and I also came to the realization how sub-par the engine was. Then I was seriously considering a Canyon AT4 because it's a better bargain than the Ranger and I get a better supplier discount, but their electronics issues made me too nervous (I spoke to someone who's truck was bricked during a software update). I am going to be towing a racecar on an open trailer which wrote off the Tacoma (which I have never gotten the appeal of after having driven a '20 and a '24) and Frontier due to payload/tow rating concerns. I like that the Ranger is a global platform (already ordered parts from Australia and I'm waiting for ARB/OME to release stuff in the states) and Ford is a big customer for my company so it's nice to support them, although I really wish it had the aluminum body of the bigger trucks. It's comfortable, roomy inside, the 2.7 seems to have a good bit of pull (still on break-in), wireless AA/Carplay, and has some pretty good towing tech from the bigger trucks. On the other hand, it's almost comically underequipped for the price (no keyless entry, keyed start, lack of higher end options, lack of colors...red, blue, black, white, grey, other grey, different grey, other other grey).

Spare parts are a bit of a concern, but fortunately the things that are most likely to have warranty issues are drivetrain related and other than exhaust and a few other components, most of that stuff is pretty common across the Ford lineup so I'm hoping it won't be a major issue. I guess the screen/dash and cameras could also be an issue but I can live with some of that stuff not working (assuming it isn't like a GM product that bricks the whole truck).

I was in the same situation , going back and forth on a Canyon AT4 or a Ranger Lariat FX4 2.7.
Jeep, Nissan, Toyota were never in contention. Quality is a real crap shoot these days, but in the end the 5 trouble free years with my 2.7 Nautilus convinced me to go Ranger. I love that 2.7 twin turbo.
