Windshield replacement cost?

This quote is for my region. I would shop around and insist on OEM tho. Safelite probably isn't the cheapest or best quality if it's non oem.

That’s ridiculous! I’d contact a local glass shop and not one of the chain stores. I saved about $500 over Safelight on my Gen5 Ranger 2yrs ago and got an OEM replacement.

There might be more to it than just the windscreen replacement - The RR has forward collision and lane guidance cameras, which mean these may need recalibrating post windscreen replacement. In my exeriance with other vehicles with the same system the recalibration costs much more than the windscreen itself. In Australia almost all insurances have free window replacement (don't need to pay excess or loose no claim bonus) not sure if it's the same in the US?

Another vote to find a independent glass shop. Safelite likes to bend you over for the ADAS calibration more than anything. Recently replaced the windshield on my wife's Bronco Sport and the difference between Safelite and a independent glass shop was over $350 save going with the independent and 75% of that was the difference in the ADAS calibration charge.

Steven’s Glass LLC in Palmer Alaska (population 6,374) was familiar with calibrating my gen5 Ranger windshield instruments. I’d venture to guess that most glass shops that routinely perform windshield replacements are familiar with the calibration process for supported makes and models.
My insurance also covers windshield repair and/or replacement.

Found a local shop that will replace with OEM glass and do the calibration for $700.

It depends on the state, and by depends its only Florida, Kentucky and South Carolina when it meets certain requirements. When I lived in Kentucky you were taught if you got a crack to just take a sock with some change in it and make it unrepairable. Then you tell the insurance company you hit something on the highway.

Some states allow separate glass coverage on your policy as an add on.

I'm just going from my experience with replacing a cracked windscreen - the windscreen repairers did not have the equipment in their workshop, I had to take my car to a workshop that had the calibration equipement and the window guys replaced the windscreen there and the calibration people did the camera cal - this was a VW so might have been more complex than other car makes, but I was told that the machine that I had to use was only one of two in the whole state.

Again, not sure if this is the case with the Ranger, but I would guess the calibration would be where the main costs are

On another note, a co-worker has a new Ranger and he needed to replace his side mirrors for extension mirrors for his caravan. The mirror replacment was easy - calibrating the side cameras a whole other ball game!

I did a few weeks ago, $1750 before my $500 deductible for the OME, after market was $1250 still needed to pay deductible only had 400 miles mine was due to a rock

More than likely, this isn’t an OEM windshield but aftermarket. However, this is what I’d consider a starting price for replacement.??
