I have about 5,000 miles on my RR. Left it totally stock for the last 6 months. Its been a great little truck. Really moves quick. Super fun on the street and really fun on the occasional dirt road. But havent really wheeled it because it sat so low and the 33's are 4" smaller than the tires on my side by side. Then this week the package I have been waiting for showed up.

A big crate of parts from 74 Weld.

My mechanic has been hard at work getting Getting the portals installed. He said that they went on perfectly without any issues. However I didn't read the fine print that I needed to buy upgraded tie rods for the Steering kit. SO that put ys aback a couple days while waiting for parts but 74Weld was quick to overnight them once we realized we were needing them.

It would have come home with me today but I decided to have them clearance just a little more around the back of the fenders so I could retain the mud flaps for a little bit of protection from rocks.

Beast mode achieved. That 74Weld stuff is more than I’d need, but really well designed and built for sure! 👍🏻

So how much ground clearance do you have from bottom of the crossbeams underneath? Bottom of running boards? I asked 74Weld on his video but he never replied.

I’m curious about the Hoss 3.0 programming. Did it retain the setting in the steering wheel? Anything special needed for this?

I would love to answer all your questions about programming of the HOSS and the ground clearance but I wasn't able to get it out of the shop before the weekend. They are trimming a little on the fenders so they have ample clearance for these 37's as well as any true 37's or offset wheels that may go on the rig down the road.

From what I've read and watched on youtube. It's plug and play. Retains all the factory steering modes. Its an upgrade I'd be interested in for sure if I really start beating on my truck off road.

I don’t think it’s silly. I think it’s awesome. This will have 4-ish additional inches of clearance than an F-150 Raptor. I bought my RR because it was all things that an F-150 Raptor was not - I.e. it’s short and narrow. I don’t do the most gnarly trails by any stretch, but I do get into some tight places where the trails have big rocks in other sections. A build like this would be the ultimate for that stuff, while an F-150 Raptor would have to turn around. This build may not be right for everyone, but it absolutely has a place. I think this looks perfect. Keeping a high positive offset with setup looks the best. Anything less sticks out way too far and starts to look silly Imo. This is the only true way to gain big clearance, plus a 22% gear reduction with the portals is pretty bad ass. I believe to get back closer to stock gearing you’d have to run a 40” tire or larger. It should be peppy as hell with a 37” tire. Four thumbs up!

I can vouch for you in this. I’ve had my full size F150 Raptor in Colorado on the Alpine loop and hit all passes except for Black Bear. Also had took it to Moab and the RR is a way better platform for that stuff. That’s why I sold my F150 Raptor and ordered a ‘25 RR.

Not including the rubber or install labor… ballpark cost with portals and tie rods? That thing is a mean machine!

This looks silly IMO.
If you want/need 37’s for the trails you’re riding, buy an F150 Raptor.
To each their own. My goal with just about any truck I get is how much rubber can I squeeze in there. 37’s maybe a small 39 will probably be the biggest unless you are willing to cut a ton of fender. But I think this rig has the power and definitely the gearing to stay quick and nimble with massive tires. The tuner made it a blast to drive.
This rig may be helping on small recoveries in areas that larger tires and a smaller truck will be beneficial.

I think it was about $20k for the portals, steering, and tie rods. Definitely not cheap. Time will tell if it was worth it.

Yes I am going to keep the stock wheels and set them up as beadlocks. I haven’t been able to find any other +55 beadlocks anywhere. With the gears and tune combined I think it will drift 37’s on dry pavement without any trouble. They do stick out quite a bit more than I would have liked. I am not a fan of the poke because our roads are often covered in salt and go right up the side of truck after getting on the roads.

I have some better built dedicated crawlers and off road machines. But this truck will be great for the tighter spaces where my bigger rigs would just get destroyed with the overhanging branches.
