Android Auto (bluetooth and USB) suddenly stopped working.

The fusion I had would regularly require disconnecting the battery in order to reset the infotainment when the bluetooth would get f'ed up and refuse to connect.

Am I going to need to do the same thing for this truck?

It was working perfectly fine for a couple months with multiple different phones.

The bluetooth connects instantly, but refuses to connect Android Auto via bluetooth or USB cable. The phone knows there's something to connect to, and Android Auto comes up and it's attempting to connect, but the truck refuses.

I uninstalled and reinstalled AA on my phone. The settings are set to auto connect even if locked.

Anyone else dealt with this? I really don't want to have to go to the dealership to unfuck the infotainment system.

I haven't verified yet, but I think something changed with AA, or something else during the last Android update. Might be something with permissions. I can't connect either on my 5G SYNC3.
Normally when I get in the truck, a notification comes up on my phone saying, 'Android Auto Available'. I don't get that notification anymore, nor can I run Pandora wirelessly.

As a work around, I was able to get it working by side loading an older version of AA downloaded from apkmirror. Make sure to turn off auto update for AA on its Google Play store page.

I stopped using AA completely in my Raptor. That won't work for everyone as I have factory nav when I need directions, but AA has always been kind of meh in my experience, and Google maps guidance has gotten worse over the years. Ex: go through this neighborhood with 20mph zones and stop signs instead of taking a couple minutes longer to drive around it.

I dunno... just doesn't seem like it's worth the hassle anymore.

I had this problem in my Ranger.
So, to get it working again, try this:

So, when you shut off your vehicle if your radio is playing and you haven't opened a door you'll notice the music keeps playing and if my memory serves me right the instrument panel might still be lit. We usually open the door and everything shuts off. But, if you were to wait and not open a door, the music and the instrument panel will still be operable. This is because there's about a 10 minute delay. After 10 minutes, everything shuts off. The instrument panel, radio and whatever else may be visible, will go blank or turn off.

1. Turn your radio on just to know when everything shuts down.
2. Shut off your vehicle. Do not open any doors.
3. Wait for the vehicle to completely shut off....usually about 10 minutes.
4. Wait an additional 2 minutes, just to be sure.
5. Start your vehicle.

AA should start working again.

It's kind of a reset, sort of. It worked for me.
I originally owned a Subaru Outback. It took trial and error to fix AA in that pile of junk. Even Subaru Techs didn't have a clue. But, this worked on the Subaru and also on my Ranger.

I tried the onboard nav for S&Gs and it was horrible. Google maps is so far superior to the Ford nav that was absolutely not an option.

I have a 2024 Ranger XLT FX4 4X4. Try simultaneously pressing the volume down> and forward track > button on the right side of the stearing wheel. This will reset the screen.

This worked for me. My symptoms were: bluetooth connected, but android auto would not start on truck. Phone seemed to think it was already connected. Sometimes it would work again if I didn't drive for a bit.

Rebooting by holding those buttons has resolved it for me and I have driven several times without it happening again.

I did not have to set anything up again on the truck or my phone after the reboot.

Working in IT, "off then on again" is an oft repeated mantra that can work wonders.

One other thing I found out. Sometimes bluetooth won't connect. Try plugging it in with cable. Seems to reset connectivity.

Have to do this every few months on my 2018 F250 to get AA back. Think it is an APM reset/reboot. Good to know it still resets a 2024 sync.

Actually I push radio power button in and the forward skip button in simultaneously for a few seconds and it does a sync system reboot and AA just reconnects after boot up. This is on the F250. Haven't had to do on Ranger yet.
