2024 Ranger rear seat removal

With the back seat folded down the flat back part of the seat is not leaves with the truck and pretty high for smaller dogs to jump in.
Thinking of removing the bottom part of the seat and then make a flat patrol for my dogs to lay in. Anyone remove the seat? Thoughts.

I know there was a reason it didn't work but can't remember it now. Will have to look at it again.

I took the seat out to sound deaden the back wall and made a video that might be helpful for you. Back bolts to the brackets that bolt to the floor/frame of the truck, the main brackets are part of the bottom part if I remember correctly to pivot up, not sure you could
Keep the back without cutting the pivot part out of the lower seat but I didn’t look too hard at it to be honest.

That video won’t help you with a regular ranger. The seat belts and bolts are totally different locations. You need a T50 bit and 13mm sockets with an elbow or knuckle joint. If you flip the rear seats up, you’ll see 2 T50 bolts that hold the seatbelt buckles down. Undo those bolts and pull the buckles down and out of the seats. The flip the back side down and move the floor carpet out of the way in to 2 back corners. You’ll see 2 black 13mm bolts on dash side. Take those 4 out and the whole rear side can be taken out the rear doors. Let me know if you need help. I can FaceTime with you to confirm if needed.

When I had my Sport Trac, the rear seat folded down creating a flat area covering the rear of the truck. When I bought the Ranger, my girl was uncomfortable with the open area so I bought a rear dog cargo set up. Basically, it had straps that attached to the head rests on the front and rear seats. For the open area (leg area) it had hard plastic inserts which created a flat surface for the entire rear area. Lola love being able to move around as she had been able to do before. Sadly, I had to let my girl go in late January, so it is stored away. If I can find the information on it I will send it.

I set my Ranger back seat up for our dogs, keeping the back seat. I have a dog back seat extender which gives the dogs a big platform to stretch out on. Then I have a collapsible dog stairway so the dogs don’t have to jump up or down, I added additional window shading and circulation fans, because back seat can get hot for the dogs. All this you can get on Amazon and very quick and easy to install and remove. Pics below:

Folding the back of the seat downward is not level, too high, etc. Rather than remove the bottom seat, can you just fold it up? Stack some 2x4 to fill the foot wells. And use 4'x8'x1/8" wall panelling (thin plywood) to make platform that covers the storage bins and footwell. I did it for our last car, worked great. I put carpet of the platform, great grip, not slippy.
