that is the one thing that bothers me about a ranger raptor, the gas mileage. i know its a performance truck but i would always be thinking about how my regular ranger gets better gas mileage and would be unhappy.

that was part of hte driver on getting rid of my 2017 titan. it was fast and comfortable but got bad mileage compared to other half tons. mileage is a big thing to me so i finally got rid of it because 12 in town and 15, if i was lucky, on the highway was what i always thought about when driving it.

though 0-60 in 5.9 in a dead stock truck was fun

I’ve been driving my 2.7 in the city in eco mode and it gets about 2 mpg better. Something you might try.

It's still a pickup truck with tons of pros and cons over a full size. A Maverick is not a truck. If fuel mileage was my main objective I would have bought a Honda Civic. The Ranger in my opinion is a compromise and a dam good one at that.

Where to start here…

1. I talked about pressure point on my knees, not the seat comfort.

2. I never said the Mav didn’t drive well.

3. Your truck as stated is only 2.5 years old (only half way to 5 years). We’ll see if it last (new flash, it won’t).

4. My opinions are not incorrect, they are in fact my opinions (Which are what the poster asked for).

5. If from the above 1-4 you can’t read between the lines I’ll make it clear for ya-

You are a moron…
Since there aren’t any 5 year old Mavericks, the best comparison would be- does an Escape last 5 years? I’m not sure what your opinion is based on, but I’m skeptical.

OK, so let's start out by me admitting that I hate Mavericks. It's not a truck - It is a Ford Escape car with a bed instead of an enclosed cabin. It is marketed to (retirement aged) men that believe they need the utility of a truck to accomplish mostly "honeydo" assignments that don't require a full size F-150. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen a Maverick doing truck stuff. Ok, I've gotten that off my chest, lol. I owned a 2019 F-150 w/ a 2.7 and I get essentially the same mileage with my 2024 Ranger 2.7 in mixed city/suburban/highway driving ~20.8mpg currently. Perhaps the Ranger mpg is slightly better, but it's insignificant. Sometimes I wish that I had another F-150, but for the light construction and toy-hauling that I mostly do - and have to park in the city - the Ranger is the way to go.

I went from a 2015 F150 2.7 ecoboost. Lariat to a 25 Ranger 2.7 Lariat. I found that the mileage is about 10-15% better on the Ranger than the 150 (I drive a lot of hills around town), so only 2-3mpg better, but that was about what I expected.

as for interior space, the Ranger definitely smaller. To get around that, I put some cargo bars and storage boxes toward the tale gate in the bed for easy access and keep stuff in there that I want with he truck but don’t necessarily need while driving (squeegees, snow scrapers, first aid kit, etc). Works well.

I love the size and the ride of the Ranger.

I have been having some hard feelings the last few days, I own a 2025 Lariat Ranger 2.7L

I love the size exterior dimensions of my Ranger but not inside i feel i may have gone to small and the fuel economy in the city is as bad as my old F150. Im wondering if I should have bought a maverick hybrid.

I love my truck most days but am having buyers remorse... andnmissing my F150

Was hoping for some thoughts...
I owned two Silverados for over twenty years. I also miss the interior size. My Ranger mileage is no better, but I'm coming to terms with the ease of daily driving. Also, the FX4 package is better off-road. I just finished a long road trip from SoCal to NorCal, helping a family member move. The Ranger hauled a full bed of furniture up the Grapevine with no problems. It's a runner! So, I'm keeping the ranger for a while. I added a bed extender and will just have to deal with less inside space.

The last pickup truck I had was a 71F150 that I bought in the mid 80’s. A week after I got it the tailgate fell off (expected) so I replaced it with a wooden plank held on by barn gate hinges and outhouse door latches. It lasted another 10 years as a second vehicle hauling tons of sand and gravel over the years building and repairing our ½ mile country driveway. Been driving Lincolns since as we moved into the city.

Wanted a vehicle for traveling (semi-retirement) and remembering the fun we had with that F150 we bought the 2024 Ranger Lariat 2.7L last August. F150 wouldn’t fit in the garage and as it turned out, we’re glad it didn’t. The Lariat is easy to drive and a pleasure to park. When my wife drives it on the interstate in eco mode she averages 25mpg+-. When I drive – 22mpg+-- (my foot weighs more than hers). Either 25 or 22, I don’t care. We bought it because we could, and we enjoy it because we can. IMHO - Ford did an excellent job all around with the Gen6.

If you do f150 stuff and you have the room, then I would get a f150.

I think the ford maverick looks like a great vehicle. Ford sells a lot of them.

i might have bought one if they had a pass through bed.

one nice thing about the ranger, it fits in my garage.

the Ranger, Tacoma, etal seemed to have been in the gym the last decades and become bigger

evn so it is definitely easier to negotiate sround a parking lot versus the full sized versions

making the the distance between the wheel wells in the Ranger bed was a nice move for handling 4’ wide sheet goods

and while not spacious, an adult can sit in the rear seats,

I agree it would be nice to have better gas mileage, but the completion isn’t any better.

I don’t think there is a lot of difference in the sticker gas mileage for the 2.7l f150 and the Ranger so not a big surprise there isn’t a huge difference in the real world

i Personally thought I would replace my 2003 Tacoma with an electric truck of some sort. Maybe my next truck ?

Vehicles generally get better mileage as they break in a bit. My 2.3 with 12k is getting better mileage than when it was new. If I only drive in town, stop and go, then I don't expect better than 20mpg. In mixed driving, I've gotten 24.5 mpg on my last several tanks.

Gas mileage is never a reason to go from a half ton to a mid size truck. A Maverick, especially with the hybrid, will get dramatically better mileage.

I have a mid size truck because a bigger one is harder to garage and maneuver into parking. The Ranger meets all of my "truck needs." An F150 would have met my needs, but a Maverick wouldn't.

The information is out there. Being disappointed in fuel mileage suggests that someone didn't do a modicum of research before buying.

Using eco mode is key if you want decent gas mileage.

I Here I thought you'd come from a generation that had thicker skin. You thought his reply was uncivil? Good lord Bill
I'm not very old, I'm turning 60 in a couple of months. Having spent 34 years in the carpenters union, I have plenty of thick skin and aggressiveness but that is not why I'm here. I am looking for interesting interactions and intelligent conversation.
