Still waiting for mine to show up. I figure I might get them before my Ranger is old and worn out.
Wow! got an email saying my J-braces came in and are ready for installation.

Mine is built mid October and looks to have the old ones.

When was your build date emails sent or did you buy it off a lot? The design was changed so your truck had to have started to be built before the date switch. Several trucks sat in build for a long time so its possible this was one of them.

I bought it off the lot. It didn't get to the dealer until late February so it would have been sitting for awhile before shipping.

I contacted Ford who took the complaint and they suggested contacting the national Highway safety administration which I did. A complaint was filed on both ends. Not sure how many owners took the initiative to do this. Hopefully it’s enough that forces FORD to push the issue for those who purchased a production vehicle before September 12, 2024.

They arent going to do anything as it has ABSOLUTELY ZERO to do with anything related to safety. It is not a safety issue, it is a capability issue. The truck was crash tested without the braces and passed. I do not understand why people will spend so much time complaining when they could of just had it resolved by now.

And before someone claps back "YoUr tRuCk DIdNt NEeD tHem" or some other dumb response. I bought a set of the braces, and was the person on this very forum who found out ford officially changed design on the day my truck was built to not need them. I then sold them for cheap to someone here who needed them.

Edit: I am the OP of this thread after seeing which thread it was lol, so yeah.

It would be nice since Ford recognized the issue and fixed it from 9/12/24 on. If it wasn’t a “issue” they wouldn’t have changed anything. Those with build dates “should” have this fixed on Ford’s dime. It’s not the cost IMO it’s the principle. ??‍♂

Ford called me back. (SHOCKER) They stated as long as I can produce a receipt for the Tonneau cover and the weight exceeds 88 pounds they will cover the cost of parts and labor to install the load box reinforcement kit.

Which is the warranty claim they have today if you bought the ford cover or whatever it is.

FALSE, this was for a diamondback cover not purchased through Ford, but weighs more than Ford’s advertised weight of 88lbs above the bad rails.

My dealer said they will cover the labor but not the part. I find that odd.
Odd how? Labor is a sunk cost. They pay for those staff members every day regardless, so in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't cost them anything. A part, would. They might be trying to do a customer a solid.

I just got around to installing mine last weekend, after having them since last fall. If it makes anyone feel any better, the parts are quality and super thick. After looking at the factory solution, the j braces are much more robust and not that bad of an install.

I'd rather have put that 150 elsewhere, but I do feel like I got something for my money.
