2024 Ranger XLT Tailgate Problem

Recently bough this Ranger. I opened the tailgate yesterday and the bolt holding it on the driver's side was out, and another part suddenly popped out. The dealer put the bolt back in, but did not replace this part. I have no idea what this other part is for.

Can anyone tell me what this is? Also, in the third photo (3A), it seems in may belong there, but there it appears the metal has been split somehow. The dealer is VERY unhelpful.

Any help would be appreciated... thanks

Looks like your dealer has some damage to repair resulting for their "repair".

Try a different dealer.
Looks like they need to replace the tailgate.

Unfortunately that damage is on the body not the tailgate. Very sloppy from the dealer.

I’m surprised the metal bent. Must be more force on the torsion spring than I thought.

Correct. Not sure how they are going to repair it, but they MUST!
