I have been looking into either the Echo mobile OR the Echo in-line brake controllers. Anybody use one? Do the trucks have a standard USCAR connection type plug? OR I might just go with a Redarc Lberty hardwired.

We use the Echo all the time when towing our 20ft Gulfstream. It works very well. I also got the additional brake putting so the app doesn’t have to be open all the time.

What is the additional brake putting? Did your STX come with a basic tow package or did you have to add your hitch and 7 pin harness?

We had one. Hated it. Sold it. Now have a 2024 Ranger with factory brake control. Love it!

I think they ment button. ypu can get the manual "spike" switch, so you can adjust gain, and manually activate the trailer brakes, without having to use your phone.

I'm using a hopkins insight tbc. I have commented on a few threads with my setup.

I would never recommend a brake controller that was NOT hard wired. Trailer electric brake systems are flaky enough without adding all the possible connectivity problems. A failed connection can mean a cancelled vacation or even worse, a serious accident causing bodily harm, which could cost you financially and legally.

I have not used a Redarc brake controller, though I have used their other stuff like a DC to DC charger and it is all top quality, but maybe overpriced due to Australia..... A good option is a Tekonsha Prodigy P3, it is well made and popular... Look for deals, it is sometimes heavily discounted. For example, ships free:

The Redarc are nice and small (just a button showing, the main unit tucked away). Had one on the 2019. And its plug and play. I only tow a braked trailer a couple times a year, was the main reason I was thinking just a wireless one.

Has anyone on this forum successfully been able to order a controller from the dealer and get it installed on their ranger?
