My new 2025 Ranger was purchased to flat tow. I now have the Blue Ox base plate on. When I try to put it in temporary neutral mode I have no manual button. It appears to be only on the electronic shift equipped vehicles. Is this truck a huge mistake? Did I buy a non-towable mode?. It is the FX4. By the way I am new to. The forum from SE Arizona. Thanks in advance.

I believe when they say "M button" they are referring to the M button on your gear shift lever.

But, you don't need to do this. I've made a quick cheat sheet to use. Follow this and it should work. Be sure to look for all the messages in the display as you go through this.

Put INTO Neutral Tow
With vehicle running, verify 2H
Foot on brake, shift into N, release brake
Turn engine off
Push start button for Access mode (foot off brake)
Foot on Brake, Go to Menu / Settings/ Neutral Tow
Hit OK then Press and Hold OK button to finalize
Foot off Brake
Push start button to Turn off

Take OUT OF Neutral Tow
Turn on in Access Mode
Foot on Brake, Shift into Park, Release Brake
Turn off Truck

Welcome to the forum, I'm in Tucson. My Ranger is getting built next week. I'm flat towing a Jeep TJ though, the ranger is a tad too heavy for my MH.

I can’t thank you enough. . It works great. Even the dealer could not tell me how to do it. I really appreciate the help. I’m new here but plan on hanging out here. Thanks again.

Glad you got it. The manual makes it sound more complicated than it really is. Happy towing!

Arizona Spring on Grant Rd ordered my BX baseplate and installed it last week. They did a good job and $ were exactly as quoted. The Ranger is lighter than the JK is that I was towing but heavier than a TJ.

Enjoy the truck. I've been on all the Ranger forums and this one is by far the best and most active, at least for the 2024-2026 models.

What do you mean by turn on in access mode? Towed my Raptor for fist time yesterday.

Turn on in Accessory mode. You do this by just pushing the start button, without your foot on the brake. This turns on all the electronics of the vehicle, but does not start the engine. It's like the old "ACC" mode in a keyed vehicle, where you just turned the key to its first position, but didn't turn the key to start the engine.

Thanks I will try that. I had to start my engine to get it to go in park. Don't like starting anymore than necessary.
