I Was going to schedule this, but think I’ll wait a few weeks & let them do a few of them. I’ve had zero issues with this truck & don’t want to drive 90 minutes each way to the dealer & leave worse than when I arrived. I have always done my own oil & filter changes because I prefer to see the work being done right.

Question: as part of this recall "fix", do they also pull the door panel(s) off, or is that not part of it?

Just wondering how far this goes before I commit...
Just had my air bag recall, oil change,10,000 mile maintenance, and Procal updated. Dropped it off Thursday morning and picked it back up Friday afternoon with no issues. They told me they dropped the headliner and popped the A, B, and C pillar plastics. Everything looks really good no scratches, gaps, or loose panels.

I should have waited but I needed an oil change anyway, so I scheduled the fix and it was done today. Dealer admitted that today they did their first 3 of them. My B pillar molding where it meets the ceiling cloth was left with stress marks in the plastic, was not able to be properly snapped into place (leaving an gap and an exposed tab) and they left greasy finger prints in many places. I examined before driving away and reported it to them. They would have let me drive away. The service manager immediately told me he’ll order replacement molding and have his detail guy clean the ceiling (after he tried with brown paper towel roll and spray upholstery cleaner). It will have to go back after they order the molding piece. I also think the oh shit handle is not as firm as it was and there’s a gap you can see daylight brought that there was not before. Pretty minor but I don’t think I’m being petty at all. It’s just not ok.

Brown paper towels and some upholstery cleaner. Unmitigated morons and they rarely fail to disappoint. Does not matter if it is Ford or a Toyota in a prom dress.

I took a brand new 2009 Ranger in for it's first oil change etc. When I got in the steering wheel had oil on it as well as the stick shift. I immediately went back in and got the service writer and showed him. I was fuming! The shop forman was told to take it back and clean it up. He was mad. Came back with it and it still had oil in the interior. I told him to GTFO and I'd do it myself! I've worked at dealerships before. This type of customer service is TOTALLY unacceptable!

THIS is the point. Mistakes happen. I expect them to happen occasionally. But the measure of people/businesses isn't the absence of errors but their response to them.

1. The tech should have recognized his own poor execution. He should have corrected it or asked for help.

2. Upon inspection before delivery (if that's a process at that dealer,) it should have been fixed. You should have been informed about the delay and the reason.

3. Your inspection should have yielded an immediate response that included 3 parts: A. Mea culpa. B. We're on it. C. In addition to getting it fixed right, we want to offer you "X" for your inconvenience.

Because some mistakes are inevitable, I judge businesses and people by how they respond to mistakes rather than whether or not they've made them.
You think there's someone that's paid to go behind techs and inspect their work?
It's all on the tech and their level of giving a fuck. This goes for dealers or independents.

I’m not certain, but I don’t think so.
Also looks like they scratched up the top off your passenger vent by the side window door defroster.
thanks, you may be right. I’ll have to have a closer look and see.

You missed the part in parentheses?

I bought a 2025 ranger last week a couple days after the fix for the recall was released. The dealership allowed me to purchase the truck but would not release it until the recall was done. Several days later it was ready and I picked it up. I was so focused on the upper part of the pillar I didn’t notice the cut they made on each side in the plastic to remove the panel. Seems like a half assed way to fix this. I think I’m going to take it back to the dealership and complain.

They did not cut it, that is the way it is made. Just looked at my truck. I have not had the recall done.

Well, if that’s the case, it makes me feel a lot better.

Why emphasise a non existent process?
Geez. I didn't emphasize it. Putting something in parentheses doesn't do that.

What I put in parentheses was my recognition that the process may not exist. It actually does, but probably not at most dealers.

I feel it's safe to say the Factory interior has sections that are already loose as assembled and certain parts if you even look at them will show gaps and play. This is definitely a stressful situation to take the risk of interior parts being manipulated in any way by anyone because it feels like either be safe and have the plastic added or be safe and ignore the patchwork job to preserve whatever integrity the interior parts have

That’s exactly why I am afraid to have my done, especially when I read they have to take the headliner down, remove the pillar posts, and remove center console. Thinking about not even having recall done.
