California CARB legal? - 2025 Ranger Raptor Performance Calibration

Anyone got an update on when we can expect Ford to release the CARB (50 state legal) Ford Performance Calibration for the 2025 Ranger Raptors?

Or... you can order it, install it and in 2 years when you are due for your first smog check it will be approved by CARB.

But usually the device manufacturer will publicize their EO number before CARB gets it posted to their website.

I was under the impression that it’s “vin locked” so you couldn’t install it yourself even if you wanted to or is it more of an issue because a certified mechanic won’t install it cause it’s not carb legal?

maybe the second one, the mechanic might not install since its not certified.

i don't see it being a huge problem though since you can just switch back to the stock tune when you go to get smogged. then once you get a new sticker, plug back in the procal and swap back to the performance tune

I did all the pre-work for the tune myself then had the mechanic just hit the last couple buttons to load the tune. It is VIN-locked but reading through other posts I think it is wise to set up the Ford Performance login yourself.

Ok, maybe I’m misunderstanding what the term “VIN locked” means. Does that mean if my Ranger Raptor is a 2025 in California then the tune won’t load or does that just mean my VIN is locked to the specific Ford Performance tune that I purchased so nobody else can copy and load it to another RR?

the procal will only work on your vin ecu/truck once you load it.

It means your FPP software/tune (once you reach this step in the installation process) can only be loaded onto your specific vehicle/VIN.

The procal is locked to you VIN once you install the tune. Nothing prevents you from installing the tune yourself if you live in CA.

On my 12 F 150 I just return it to stock go get the smog done then reload the tune
Livernois Motorsports has a better tune and they give you a CARB sticker

Your VIN is registered to your vehicle so if you live in CA, the system will recognize this when you start the process (it's using an online DB), thus preventing you from getting the proper file to install/register is what I understand, thus It won't work.

You are incorrect. It will install just fine. Unless something has changed recently.
