Maybe. Here’s an example…on my 2019 Tacoma, I changed the wheels and tires, along with UCA and shocks to Kings and Total Chaos.
I had a LCA problem. They denied to cover it while under warranty due to modified suspension. Was it worth me pursuing legal action after them? No. But if all my suspension was stock, it would have been covered.
All I’m saying is there is a definite grey area here…thats it. If you can’t agree with that then you likely have a tune and extended warranty, and are hoping you’re covered![]()
I don't think anyone would argue with there being a grey area. There definitely is. It's the same grey area where they could deny any claim saying that you were abusing the truck in some way if they could directly prove it was the cause. At the same time you also have many dealers to choose from. I've had plenty of dealers who didn't want to do work that another dealer would jump on.
My thing is ever since the tune came out there are some people on here who jump into every thread saying don't do it, it voids your warranty. But that's literally not true. I believed them at first before I realized it was bs. I don't think it's completely their fault - I think the materials that it comes with could explain it a little more directly, even though it is pretty clear, but I get why it is the way it is.
Another thing I've found out is that Ford literally has no idea that you even have the tune installed until you actually register the warranty through Ford Performance at which point a note gets added to Oasis that they can contact FP for warranty claims.
I say this for multiple reasons, but one of which is that I had my truck serviced and warranty work done a few months ago and the tech literally noted that there was a newer software update available so he updated it. On the way home I realized the tune was no longer installed and I confirmed that with the ProCal and reinstalled it. Absolutely oblivious to it being there.
