Tada!

Something really great happened with these new changes. What you see in the video is the exact same RAILs that we use on the short (4") rack. When I pushed the verticals outboard to clear the rolled up tonneau cover, it allowed me to reuse the existing components.

What that means is you could swap between the 4" rack and the 10" rack by just changing the vertical mounts.

The translucent box that you see in the video represents the rolled up tonneau cover, or at least the maximum measurements of the rolled up cover (ie. what I had to clear with the rails).

Ah, this is great! I'm in, let's go!

I have a soft rollup cover, I bet the 4" would even work for me. I need to take some measurements. You guys are doing cool shit, in my old stomping grounds. Graduate of SUU! Miss the West and wide open spaces to play.

On another note, I reached out about ditch light brackets. Was about to pull the trigger but on the site, there are pics of your brackets with both ditch lights and front facing. THAT is the setup I prefer, and would eliminate the need for a light bar. I live in the South, and ditch lights help see the millions of deer on the side of the road.

Appreciate the updates from a good company!

How much height did you accommodate for the rolled up cover?

Also, does the lateral reinforcement plate attach to the outside of the crossbars, so it is useable with 2 and 3 crossbar configurations?

It looks like this design would be easily adaptable to full height bars as well then? 🤞

8.3" (212mm) - top of plastic bedside cap to bottom of rail.

Yes, but if you someone wanted to use the frontmost rail and the rearmost rail, it will require a long brace, which we will definitely build, probably with deeper flanges to make it more rigid.

I like the "half rack" scenario where you use the front two rails and not the back one. With tonneau covers, that could be a cool setup. We have some F150 Raptor customers doing that setup.

Definitely!

Thanks!!! I moved out here from Alabama, so I went the other way. 🤣 Definitely love it out here.

That bracket you're referring to is something the customer bolted onto our brackets. It's something that I wanted to incorporate directly to one of our upper components. I need to do that. Give me 5 minutes! 😉

For anyone curious about the light brackets, I added the new video to the original thread - https://www.ranger6g.com/forum/thre...sive-ranger6g-discount-code.20207/post-351877

Go ahead and put me down for a set of full height risers then as well!

I'm planning on getting 3 of the 10" and then 2 sets of full height risers when they're available. 10" for a tent and full height for the canoe.

Here’s what a Gator soft top roll up cover looks like. 10” would be overkill. 6” to bottom of rails would be perfect. Could get away with 4”.

That's a little tiny guy!

The 4" rack has right at 2" below the bed rails. It may work since the cover is flexible, though. You may could pull the roll below the rails before it gets too big and roll it the rest of the way with the roll against the window.

Do you mean 2” “above” the bed rails? I don’t think it would work as there is a bar that rolls up with it and the tonneau rail is about 1” above the bed rails. That would leave an inch to squeeze it through.

Final chance for feedback before we build some prototype parts.

Height of rack above bed sides - 266mm (~10.5")

Thoughts?

How thick is it at the mounting location closest to the glass ? That's like a foot from the glass, so I'd imagine that it would be thinner in diameter at that point.

Any concerns of left and right racking when taking turns? It's looks really solid, but I've never seen them in person before.

How far up do the risers go into the cross bars and how are they attached?

I currently run a set of mid height bars at the same time as full height bars. It gives me two layers to mount things. I put a spare tire on the mid height bars and put 4 kayaks on the top bars. My tonneau cover rolls up with plenty of room under tall of that.
