I can't back out of my driveway without the emergency braking kicking in . I have a normal driveway and there is absolutely nothing that would set it off. Dealership showed me how to shut it off which isn't a fix. I'm under 12 months of ownership and I have only 4k miles on it. I'm going to hire a attorney and lemon law it . I spent too much money to have to start disabling safety features. Only problem is what do I replace it with ? I would take another ranger if it doesn't have this problem.

So I can set mine off with my snow poles. Are you sure it's not because you're going fast and turning past a mailbox or tree or something? Just seems odd that it would go off with "nothing"?

If anyone is finding this threat in the future, know that the XL does not have reverse parking sensors and therefore does not suffer from the AEB problem discussed above.

I disagree it most certainly is a defect. My other truck doesn't do it . It is a safety requirement by law and I'm suppose to turn it off bypassing it's designed safety requirement.

its only a safety defect if it affects the ranger line. The fact that it does not work in your driveway will not suffice for lemon law. No manufacturer can account for every driving scenario. That is why I suggest taking another unit home and try it out. If it does the same, then it is what it is and you probably have no case. If it does not happen then you have an issue with your truck and if they can NOT fix it then you might have a case.

This was another great feature Ford could never fix. I got used to backing up with alarms going off and only got startled when it would slam on the brakes for no reason.

Does this happen backing out of only the driveway or driveway and garage.
Then I would try somebody else’s driveway and garage. Trying to stay somewhat similar.
Is the dash light coming on during the emergency braking.
Is park brake hold on.

Not trying to say you haven’t already tried these things. I’m only trying to help. Taking another same model Ranger is a good suggestion, but same year might be a better comparison.
But I’m with you, turning the system of is not the solution. That defeats the whole purpose. Dealing with the problem for a year in unacceptable. Good luck.

Ram 1500 with the Hemi is hard to beat if you must buy a full-size.
my ram 2022 ram 1500 engine failed at 46k miles. Then the ball joint came out of my front upper control arm while driving. I will never buy a ram 1500 again.

Wife's Lincoln Aviator does the same thing. To many BS sensors in these vehicles, that in my opinion are not needed and cause more crashes. The only way to fix it, is to turn it off and pay attention when you reverse. I can not stand any of these so called safety features in any newer vehicle. All it encourges is for drivers not to pay attention to their surroundings. Also, totally not needed as there is a backup camera.
