If you are going to roll the dice on another brand with potential problems (they all have them), chances are, you are better with a newer Ranger.

must be completely stock, zero modifications, not even a dash cam, never left the pavement and trailered around everywhere, and kept in a heated and air conditioned garage all the time? you are the very first person I ever heard say a jeep was a reliable rig. parts are a dime a dozen so cheap to fix. but Since Fiat took over..... stelantis products(fca) nope. nothing goodAgree to disagree. I have owned five Jeeps and they’ve been totally awesome.
my 2025 has been amazing. got her april 2025 17k Kms and zero issues besides the 2 recalls. software update on the abs module, and the plastic side airbag shields. I purchased the 72hr access to the ford diagnostics stuff. and you can look up the full build info etc on the truck. found my truck was a sunday truck, so she an Overtime truck. lol built Sunday February 2 2025. she was on a hold waiting on some computer chips and was released march 23rd 2025(my cousin is part dept at my dealer and looked up more info when I asked him why it said the truck was on hold for a month and thats what he told me) and she came off the car carrier april 12th, april 15 I went to look it, it wasnt even listed as in inventory, still as in transit. I was the first customer to sit in her. was amazing. lolAfter almost 2 years/ 60,000 KMS this truck has been far below expectations. My longest stretch between warranty claims was just over 90 days, mechanical issues, build quality issues, and endless electrical issues seem to be the main reasons it went in. The latest joy is the collision avoidance system likes to activate while doing highway speeds on empty roads, I fear this thing going off when someone is behind me. The endless parking sensor failures in cold weather that Ford claims are faulty sensors but none of the sensors they install work, now the infotainment screen likes to power down couple times a day.
I am pretty sure I'm the recipient of a very early production build as my truck was delivered end of March 2024, I assume this is the root cause of my lemon but its been very frustrating to own a truck I had such high expectations for. After 16 years of driving new Fords this will be the last one, I think I'll risk the new tundra motor. Rant over
Indeed. Most jeep owners I know agree with the saying, JEEP - just empty every pocket. They are notorious for maintenance issues. That's kind of like winning the lottery.
buddy, good to hear things worked out for you! really my man! enjoy that Lariat! Post a pic, when you can.Went to the dealership I got my ranger from today and they took it back for a really solid price. I walked out with a new lariat powerboost. If I'm going to own an electrical demon it might as well have a sunroof, cooled seats, an onboard generator and get better gas mileage.
Haha, you’d think but no. Three of the five were modded pretty heavily (although no engine mods). All of them run off road extensively. I would never own a Jeep if I didn’t off road it. I don’t know what to say. I’m meticulous about maintenance and I mod with quality parts.must be completely stock, zero modifications, not even a dash cam, never left the pavement and trailered around everywhere, and kept in a heated and air conditioned garage all the time? you are the very first person I ever heard say a jeep was a reliable rig. parts are a dime a dozen so cheap to fix. but Since Fiat took over..... stelantis products(fca) nope. nothing good
You have nicely summed up my reasons for buying an XL. It's a nicely equipped truck with a relatively low bullshit factor (for a modern rig).bottom line it's pretty simple, they don't build them like they use to, and that is any brand. Having worked in a dealership over a decade as my fun job, I can tell you each year the quality drops and I feel it's mostly all the stupid technology stuff for the most part. The 5/60 takes care of most the issues that are costly, and the 3/36 does a good job of the rest BUT its a pain having to get recall after recall, software update after software update, and watching the technology eat up consumer patients. that is why I firmly feel less is more on most models. Having owned the 24 RR, loved it, but the amount of technology, most of which I would never use, all I seen was problem and long-term expense. I dropped to a more user friendly 25 XLT FX4 with the 2.7 and could not be happier. Key ignition and all. I don't care about all the bullshit stuff I will never use, I want a more reliable product, and I think I would rather have the basics that run, than to beat my chest flaunting technology that is the weakest point in all these vehicles.
