Dumb question, but what screws/bolts are used for the rear license plate attachment? My truck came with none and there are something like 3 holes on either side (I'm guessing for different state's plate configurations). Looks like it's just holes drilled through the plastic mounting area with no threaded inserts, etc. Thanks in advance.

You can get the little blocks with the bolts/screws from the local autoparts place so you dont have to worry about stripping anything

There is no place for the inserts (blocks) to go on the rear of the truck where the plate attaches. At least not on my 25 RR.

Sorry. I should have said if you have to drill your own holes, you can get those deals at the local auto parts store

Looking at mine though, it is just screwed into the plastic. The dealer stuck a paper plate in a zip lock bag there but they did drill the original holes

They're just sheet metal screws drilled into the plastic. The size is M6 or 1/4". I used this kit and was very pleased with it: (You won't need everything in the kit)

Nice, but having spent a decade in a dealership, my sales guys HATED these security bolts LOL. Most folks who traded cars in with them had NO idea where the tool was to remove the bolts. Some are unique while others are not, but a bear to remove without the proper tool. We tore a bunch off cars, so although a pin to remove, they are secure lol.

If you lose the tool they are just standard security Torx that you can buy in sets at Harbor Freight. You can also heat up a toothbrush handle with a lighter and press it onto the screw head to make your own tool.

You might be right, but trying to get a sales guy to buy a basic screwdriver is difficult enough, none will go out and buy a one-off tool. Just saying, it's a pain for the average sales guy to deal with. Yes, a more aggressive and ready guy might plan ahead for these, but they are rare, so most don't think about it until it happens!

Yeah I can understand that, very rare is a sales guy who is very mechanical, or even knows much about his product. They're good at selling and that's it.

Isn’t the dealer supposed to mount the plates before you take delivery and drive away?
I bought the truck from MI and I'm in NY.

I bought this bracket and frame kit from Amazon. The bracket can be attached to the two threaded inserts in the bumper through the slots in the bracket. Then, mount the license plate to the bracket using the 4 threaded inserts in the bracket. Keeps you from having to screw your plate directly into the plastic area. My dealer had screwed the dealer tag directly into the plastic. When I removed it, I sealed the holes with black epoxy and then attached the bracket.
