The 2.7l is already putting out 315 HP. I’d say that the little v6 is breathing pretty darned well already. If additional performance is your goal by adding/wanting dual exhaust, then the dual exhaust isn’t likely to yield much of a gain by itself. Now couple it with a tune and perhaps a better cold air intake, then you can increase the HP up to 355.
If you just want dual exhaust for the sake of dual exhaust, or you want a different sound, then you can certainly achieve it (to a certain degree) by installing dual exhaust. Then you have the added expense and logic of adding additional O2 sensors, catalytic converter and muffler.
a single exhaust system that allows the engine to breathe offers less obstruction when off roading (4x4 applications). Its less expensive to maintain the exhaust system, and has a quieter “tamer” sound and resonance which likely appeals to a broader range of buyers. But that doesn’t necessarily appeal to all buyers. IMO these trucks are already too danged expensive to add extras that won’t add a lot of value to the “average” buyer.

I’m talking about primary and secondary balancing, neither of which are any good in a v6 and must be compensated for with weight on the crankshaft (for the primary imbalance) and/or balance shafts (for secondary). Flat twins, fours, and sixes, and inline sixes have far better balance naturally.
so you are saying the MB GLE has the best engine imbalance compensating, the best additional weight/complexity system. Yeah, probably. The GLE still doesnt have a soul.

No, I didn't say it had the best of anything. Really. To paraphrase myself I said that before owning that gle I had a low opinion of v6's but over time that engine has impressed me in several ways. Nothing more.

I guess I like the look first, the sound second. But your logic makes sense. But if Tremor comes out in 27 with dual, I am gonna be pissed LOL

I think v6s are fine for what they are: fitting a bigger engine into a smaller space. But they aren't lively sounding and are inherently imbalanced. The imbalancing can be corrected. Still a crutch, but I'm willing to accept that.

Still looking at 6G's with the V6. My issue is symmetry. Can't stand the awkward look of the single sideway protruding tailpipe. I got a dual rear exit exhaust for my 5G, and I think it looks great. And since it's tuned, it gets me a few more HP's.
Ever notice the Colorados and Canyons? Their single tailpipes are tucked up close and hardly noticeable.

If there were anyway to simply swap out and exhaust system and make a six banger sound like this, they would make a mint. ‘Pretty much physicaly impossible for the reasons that some of you guys states. But if they could, think of how many of those systems would get sold.

Which might save me mint too. lol 😝
The American V8 baritone burble.... it would be nice to have that sound in a turbo v6, but it isn't happening. i would like to hear the turbo whine as they spool up, at least then you would know something fun and mechanical is going on

borla doesn't drone and any droning you get from an aftermarket system can be corrected with a resonator.

when we bought my son's 2014 focus st it had a straight pipe on it and it sucked driving home the 3 hours. we immediately bought a resonator and put it in and it got rid of hte drone. it quieted it down so much that we didn't add a muffler. we were looking at spintech and borla in case it ended up still being obnoxiously loud.

"Performance" 4 cyl and v6s do. Ever drive the 350z/370z or any performance Infiniti sedan/coupes with the 3.5/3.7v6? Or some Honda Civic SI or Type R?

Im not talking about some luxury v6 suv or some mid-grade family sedan. Those are quiet absolutely and do not "drone", but the performance models of v6s and 4 cyl do "drone"
