The 2.7l is already putting out 315 HP. I’d say that the little v6 is breathing pretty darned well already. If additional performance is your goal by adding/wanting dual exhaust, then the dual exhaust isn’t likely to yield much of a gain by itself. Now couple it with a tune and perhaps a better cold air intake, then you can increase the HP up to 355.
If you just want dual exhaust for the sake of dual exhaust, or you want a different sound, then you can certainly achieve it (to a certain degree) by installing dual exhaust. Then you have the added expense and logic of adding additional O2 sensors, catalytic converter and muffler.
a single exhaust system that allows the engine to breathe offers less obstruction when off roading (4x4 applications). Its less expensive to maintain the exhaust system, and has a quieter “tamer” sound and resonance which likely appeals to a broader range of buyers. But that doesn’t necessarily appeal to all buyers. IMO these trucks are already too danged expensive to add extras that won’t add a lot of value to the “average” buyer.
