I am trading in my Maverick for a left over 25 ranger lariat Fx4. Ended up with the small 2.3 due to availability and cost (great deal, financing under 25k). It does not have the number step but does have the trailer package. My knees and back are shot from years of physical abuse in law enforcement. I want to get a bumper step but have not found options that seem to fit. I can get metal (flat sheet and/or angle iron) from a machine fabricator to be bent and holes drilled. Does anyone have any advice or measurements or ideas? Did not want to do a folding ladder that mounts to tail since I need that space for e-bikes and bed extender.

i just added the bed steps to my truck this past weekend because nothing you use on the bumper/hitch will work when the tailgate is down.

i couldn't find a fold down step anywhere, either. i tried to find one from amp research since that is who i got one for my previous truck from, but no-go

I wanted the side step and found a truck that had one from the factory. While shopping I asked at the Ford dealer and they said it would be something like $3k to add at their shop. Others on this forum mentioned after market from Aliexpress like this one AliExpress step. I don't know if they are any good, but a much less expensive option. While my truck has two, you might only need it on one side. A wrecking yard may be another source for the OEM parts.

Thank you. Was hoping for the “bolt-on” job other than the side-step bumper. Didn’t want to remove bumper to get the job done. I do appreciate the assistance. Apparently there isn’t anything made yet which in this day and age is very odd.

From my understanding, there isn't a lot required. I think you remove the plastic on the side of the bed, then bolt on the new parts and trim. Search the forums as others have talked about this before and bought the parts online.

There is a small ladder you can bolt to your tailgate. I swings out to the rear or side of the tailgate.

You going to need a bizzillion points as I think Ford wants around $1400 for them.

What about the beaver step by smitty built? in the tow hitch? I have it on my truck and use it to protect from rear end bumps but also I use it as a step.

nope. i just tightened the heck out of them when i loosed the bumper to install my steps. i couldn't find the torque reqruirement (though i didn't try to find it very hard)

the problem with those hitch mounted steps is they stop working when the tailgate is down. i have two or three different ones in the garage. i currently just keep a 2" ball hitch in the receiver to step on and protect the back from bumps but same issue, if the tailgate is down, its covered.

These are really handy! Great share! I might just have to get one. Does anyone know how much torque those bolts would need when tightened down? Their instructions do not say anything about that..just fully tighten.

Typical Ford service spec for these bolts: ~80 lb-ft (108 Nm)
This is the standard spec Ford uses for M12 class 10.9 bumper/frame mounting bolts on the global Ranger platform.
