Dealer FP Tune installed. Box never opened

Just curious, you can download the software to a Mac ?

I was told a year ago it had to be a computer running Windows

Read that also in the installation instructions, my local dealer that completed the Procal install said that was not the case. I did not download to any computer so I can not confirm either way, just forwarded what the dealer service adviser told me when I asked them that exact question. Just as an FYI, anyone can get on the Ford Performance website and chat with a specialist, I have done it numerous times.

The software is pretty antiquated. I highly doubt they ported it to Mac.

Just got off the phone with Ford Performance, the procal tune is Windows based and can only be downloaded to a Windows computer. The only reason you have to download at all is if you are going to load the tune yourself. I did not download the software to any computer, set up the account with for performance, gave the service tech my email and password and they loader it from there. They also told me on the phone they never do updates to the Procal tune, so once its downloaded it will never be updated. Straight from Ford Performance tech line.

trying to brainstorm storm a solution to that. I hate to go spend an extra couple hundred and buy one

and my close friends are to shady to borrow theirs

How are you going to perform the Procal tune install? If the dealer or certified tech will be completing then you don't need to download anything. Set up your account with Ford Performance (login id and password) and give the install tech that info and the box with the tune. They will take it from there. That is exactly what I did, no download to any computer.

Why do you need the software in your possession? Just asking, you can get that downloaded anytime from Ford Performance if needed, your ford dealer technician has it. You only need it if you are going to do the Procal tune install.

That is what I did, set up the appointment when you get your tune (in a box). Set up your account with Ford Performance and give them your login and password. That is all they need.

Thank you for the information. It would appear the tech at the dealer set up(or already had) an account with FP in their name to do the install. Still curious how they were able to achieve this without opening the box to retrieve the voucher number. Seems the work is done. Now to get some miles on the truck

Not sure how they could install the tune since they are all VIN specific, unless the tech has a tech specific version. When the tune is downloaded the VIN must be entered or scanned to the program, then it can only be used on that vehicle.

I did everything myself except load the tune into the truck so far. Going to have my buddy at the dealer do that so they can charge me and have it on the system with receipt for warranty. I don't want to have to go to the dealer everytime anything needs to be done or put back to stock for whatever reason that could be. And I'm pretty sure there's a thread here somewhere where there was an update. Not going to pay a dealer everytime to look at it, update it or put it back to stock if i feel the need to.
