Do the 2026 RR Models have a Gasoline Particulate Filter in California?

Hey guys, I’m planning to buy a Ranger Raptor this week and I’m currently deciding between two trucks:

  • A brand new 2026
  • A used 2025 with only 400 miles

The price difference is only about $1,000. I live in California and plan to run the Ford Pro-Cal tune once it becomes available.

My main question is whether anyone has been able to confirm if the 2026 Ranger Raptors are coming with a GPF (gasoline particulate filter). I’ve read that some 2026 F-150s and the Maverick are getting them, and I’d prefer to avoid a GPF if possible.

I know gasoline particulate filters aren’t exactly the same as diesel DPF systems, but I’m still concerned about:

  • added complexity
  • potential reliability issues long term
  • possible tuning limitations
  • and any potential power loss/restriction

Especially since there have been reports of horsepower reductions on some 2026 F-150s.

Has anyone with a 2026 Ranger Raptor been able to confirm whether the trucks actually have a GPF? Any info would be appreciated. I’ve been researching these trucks for months and this is one thing I haven’t been able to get a clear answer on.

Thanks!

My reply would be political in nature and I try to comply with this forums guidelines but here you Go!

I have not seen a clear official confirmation that the 2026 Ranger Raptor has a GPF in the US market yet.

Ford has been adding GPF on some newer models like the F-150 and Maverick in certain regions, but it is not consistent across all trims and engines.

If you are trying to avoid it, the only safe way is to check the EPA label or the emissions hardware on the exact truck you are buying.

The 2025 with 400 miles is basically new, so I would treat it the same as new for reliability.

If tuning is your goal, the 2025 might be the safer choice until there is confirmed info on the 2026 setup.

Ditto.

Some 2.7l F-150s even come with an EGR delete now.

GPFs are on the 3.5l, and now for MY26 the 5.0l (FOR THE MOST PART).

Thanks for the reply’s so far, hoping somebody with a CARB 2026 can take a peak under their truck.

A couple other things that might push you towards the 2025:
  1. ProCal has an EO for the 2025 model year already. Unclear when 2026 will get it's EO.
  2. Ford pulled the ole "yeah, it's only $1,000 more, but look how much less you get" and yanked a few things - turn signals in the mirrors (very nice to have) and the Raptor logo on the key fob (not really a big deal, but some folks are incensed over that for some reason)

There might be a few other things they de-contented, but those are the ones I'm immediately aware of.

Is the 2025 at a Ford store? If so I'd imagine it's certified, which should include a pretty decent warranty.

Not sure all that helps, but hope it does.

it’s at a different store which is quite a bit farther away. It is blue oval certified but from what I can tell that only gets you a 139 point inspection which means almost nothing to me on a 400 mile truck.

That looks like their base tier of used car certification. Very 'meh'. Bummer. I had never had the need to look at their certified program until right now.

Even so, I'd go 2025, add an extended warranty, and send the f out of it.

For now I believe only European cars come with GPF, Porsche for example has them on the '25 and later 911s. Fortunately they aren't required here so aftermarket exhausts can eliminate them.

I bought my 2025 RR with 1,100 miles on it which was BOC from a Ford dealership. The 139 point inspection you may gloss over but what you shouldn’t is what Blue Oval Certified also gets you. In that inspection they must do an oil change and it gets you a 4th year of warranty! It’s in the BOC literature. Plus, since it wasn’t technically “New” I got it for $2K less than the brand new one sitting next to it. Couldn’t tell it had just over a 1K miles on it, never been off road, 4 year warranty, already had its first oil change and since it had technically been through service for that oil change the dealer already performed the air bag recall before I bought it.

I’d take a good look at that “used” 400 mile ‘25!

Sorry, my mistake mine was a Gold level. I didn’t realize there were different levels. I received the extra year a warranty & whatnot. Sorry for the confusion. It was back in September. Made more sense than a new one at the time.

No worries. I'm sure the Blue level doesn't cost the dealer anything, but the higher tiers do.
