One of the sole disappointments to me in the ranger is the poor performance of the rear camera in the dark.

So cue up the ARES CREE LED Reverse Light System by @F150LEDs. My previous Lasfit led light was better than the stock halogen bulb but still not good enough.

i orderedthe f150 ares awhile ago but it finally arrived USPS. No instructions but it did come with a Swedish fish candy, an air freshener, and dielectric geese. At least i assume that is what it is. I did find an install video, you take out the light socket and plug this thing in, no mention of the grease though…

since I am a pro at removing the rear lights it was an easy install.

it is pretty durn bright compared to the lasfit led reverse lights, more so than this picture shows.

fingers crossed this will being me joy when backing up on the dark.

How does it look on the center screen when backing up/in reverse? I’m still on stock bulbs and the brake light really washes out the reverse light in my rear camera view on the center screen.

Yeah, let's see some performance pics of your screen (might be hard to demonstrate) or from outside the truck on scene!

The grease is likely for the connectors, although I'd only put it on the rubber gaskets of the connector and not the pins themselves...it's a common fallacy that packing your connector wire terminal full of di-electric will protect them....it is an insulator not conductive.

I think it is a lot brighter. My neighbors might not be happy.

but I’m wondering if the issue with the camera is not light but narrow light. I was looking at the image in the rear camera with just the tail lights and it looked ok.
