Ford Ranger 2025 Ranger 4x4 FX4 Brake Problem truck pic

Just bought this gorgeous Ranger 2 weeks ago. Now the brakes are intermittently losing pedal, it goes almost to the floor and you have to stand on the pedal hard to get it to stop. Ford dealership has it and said they are replacing the front pads and shaving the rotors. Seems like this is not going to help as sometimes the pedal is high and it's easy to stop, it is like it is losing pressure. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks.

Ruh roh, those electronic brakes everyone traded their vacuum boost braked 24 rangers for might be trouble after all.

Ask them to bleed the system once or twice. I bet that helps

Personally, I would NOT be happy with a NEW Ranger getting the rotors resurfaced. This is normally to help pulsation from warped rotors etc, and will shorten the life of the rotors.... I agree that this isnt going to help your issue. I personally would fight them on the resurface and try my best to insist on new rotors instead.

Agreed, but they have already done that part. Waiting for the road test results again. Disappointing. I'll update as this goes along.

So the dealership just called, and as expected the work they did, did not work.... they have put in a call to the Ford hotline because they really do not know what else to check. Supposedly bleeding the brakes won't work, it sounds more like it is a computerized issue. oh boy... I said we need a loaner vehicle then, so if they can't get it fixed by tomorrow, management has to ok that. The humor of this is my husband did not want to buy a vehicle several years old because of potential problems, and here we are. Have to laugh about that, eh?

Keep us updated. I've got pretty much the exact same Ranger on order right now and want to keep updated on any potential issues. Thanks SandiG!

I bet its air in the abs. Since their computer doesnt tell them to check that, they won't. You have to have an actual mechanic, not a tech, work on it. Unfortunately you got a tech

They are still waiting for a response from the Ford hotline. Ford is picking up the cost of a rental car for us starting today and picking up my husband to go get it. Aggravating.....

You wish? This has been the only one and that booster has been on the Mustang a while. I agree on the air in the system.

The first part was said in jest. Hard to convey that typing though.

I dont wish anyone trouble with their vehicles. I had that on my previous new truck and it was no fun having the truck in the shop once or twice a year for stuff getting replaced under warranty after three or four days of troubleshooting by the guys at the dealership

They won't convey questions to the techs unfortunately. Air pressure loss makes total sense, you would think they would check that too but........ they did find an electrical problem( bad relay) in our F-150 that was intermittent and would not show up on the computer so I was hopeful about this, but nope.

In a situation like this I always insist on talking to the tech that worked on it and they have always obliged.

Ford could not find any other cases like ours. But they did recommend testing the wheel speed sensors that work with the electronic brake force system and if they are not erratic, then the EBB (ABS) may be faulty. We have an F-150 4x4 they rented for us for the weekend. I'll update more as this goes along.
