I had the same problem with mine this past week. I also had a bunch of error codes. Then I checked my app messages and received the following:

-Antilock Brake Fault
-Pre-Collision Assist Not Available
-Hill Start Assist Warning

The same messages showed up before I purchased it too.

I tried resetting by turning on and off the truck. Then tried to get roadside assistance, come to find out it's $850 because I was outside of the 50 mile range to a dealer. So, after 20 minutes of messing with the app, I went back and started the truck, everything was normal. I'm dropping it off at the dealer Monday to have them check it out.

Mine did not display any error codes. One of the service advisors told me his wifes 2018 edge also had a brake booster go bad with the same symptoms as mine. It took Ford 2 weeks to figure it out, eyes rolling here. Sounds like they now have a recall on all the big trucks for a pin in the booster, they need to get quality control back in place! Hope you find a fix quickly.

I fishin01, I recently had EXACTLY the same problem on a campground. When leaving the site (without the camper), I had the same messages and it was real : NO BRAKES ! on a new vehicle with less than 7000km, hum... The brake pedal went to the floor with almost no resistance. I ran very slowly on manual M1 for less than 1km and stopped and restarted the engine. After this no alarm messages and the brake pedal was firm again (normal braking). We were very anxious coming back with this situation on a trip of 5 hours... The dealer will "expertise" it next Monday. Please keep me informed, it seems we have the same issue.

hope they get yall all fixed up right. i would be worried as heck wondering if that error was going to randomly pop up in rush hour traffic or when a kid on a bike darts out in front while driving on a neighborhood road

No brakes is kind of a big deal. Sounds like a recall in the making to me. I hope y'all are going online to file a report with NHTSA.

Personally, I would NOT be happy with a NEW Ranger getting the rotors resurfaced. This is normally to help pulsation from warped rotors etc, and will shorten the life of the rotors.... I agree that this isnt going to help your issue. I personally would fight them on the resurface and try my best to insist on new rotors instead.
Add to that they'll warp again even sooner. Resurfacing isn't a magic fix.

It shouldn't be done on perfectly good rotors, either. That solution makes absolutely no sense.

Their has been a recall issued on this. I just received it on the Ford app. for my 25. Looks like it is a software update. Check your Ford Pass in the service area it is Campaign 25S77/25V48 issued 8/13/2025

The recall notice also mentioned an Over-The-Air update. Is that true?

I was a bit overwhelmed by not only Ford, Ford App, and CarFax sending me a note that the recall was for my VIN number. Need to start looking at where else my VIN is associated with my name and email address.

Not sure about that. When I called the dealer they say that it could be done with a mobile service or I could bring it in. I am bringing it to them next week. I havent had any braking issues so I hope this doesn't create some.

It just brings home the whole idea of the serviceability of modern cars. I work in the tech industry, and when I pulled the BIM/PIM configs for my vehicle, it went on for 27 pages of settings.

I agree with the comment that I hope this doesn't open up a whole new can of worms!

The service writer told me it is a re-flash of the ABS module.

Thanks to you Rangerjimm, effectively I searched on the web site of Ford recalls, and the VIN of my Ranger is concerned by the recent recall 22S77, corresponding to the NHTSA recall report 25V488. The description of what may happen is exactly what happened to us. Next Monday, I suppose the dealer will update the Electronic Brake Boost (EBB) software. But I'm still so surprised that the EBB could stop working while driving, which mean almost no braking capacity... and that a simple software update is supposed to resolve this...

according to the safety bulletin

Description of the cause:

The EBB motor is susceptible to normal but infrequent voltage disturbances. A voltage drop and

recovery can lead to a momentary current surge exceeding the EBB module over-current monitoring

limits, causing the EBB motor to shut down.

Bosch is the supplier so I wonder why Bosch thought it was a good idea for a motor shut down on a brake system, even if there was a fault detected.

I would think a better solution would be to eliminate the voltage drop but that would be a hardware change.

I worked on things like this for a few decades and I don't see any reason why it couldn't be fixed with software.

Must only apply to certain VIN trucks produced in a certain timeframe. My FP app shows no active alerts. I believe my 2025 XLT is an April truck.
