Hi folks, just joined the forum. My father purchased a 2025 Ford Ranger and is configuring it to flat tow.
He used to do this with his Toyota Tundra, where he was able to tap into the Tundras break pedal sensor switch(?) And feed that back into an led in RV, for break on detection.
He'd like to do this with the Ranger but is struggling to find this switch. He's found YT videos for the 2024 and location of switch but nothing for 2025.
Anyone have any suggestions?
TIA...
Doesn't his supplemental braking system provide him with this info?

Actually it doesn't, he's wanting to re-use the tow package from Tundra, with new baseplates for Ranger. Supplemental braking system is older than Ranger, so 2025 not included in instructions.
In fact, is there a supplemental braking system in the market for a 2025?

His supplemental braking system should have a display unit for the cab of the RV which monitors the braking system while underway. I have a Blue Ox Patriot. The display looks like this:

Ford Ranger 2025 Ranger 6G - 4-Wheel Flat Towing behind RVs - YES! 1743977005799-ah

When brakes are applied at the toad by the Patriot system, it will display this on this screen. Do you know what system he is using?

Thanks, sorry I'm not very clear.
Yes, he has that as part of his system.
What he can't figure out is where to attach it on the Ranger.
On his Tundra and on videos for previous years Rangers, that brake signal line is near the firewall and brake pedal.
The wiring on the 2025 Ranger is different and he can't locate the brake system wiring.

OK, now I understand. For that stuff, I always let the pros handle the install. Too many things that I can muck up! This might be a tough one simply because you're not going to find too many people who have the 25 and are flat-towing it after the cluster that the 24 MY was. Good luck to you. Hopefully, someone has the answer here!

Thank you. Appreciate your help.
I'm exploring to see if he can just create a pigtail and pull the signal from the rear bumper of Ranger, but will need to check if it's active when being towed.

For the lights nothing is officially made yet except a kit to cut the wires.
However after some cross referencing the plugs are the same as a 2022/23 F150, go figure, not a Bronco!
CURT 52103 Custom Towed-Vehicle RV Wiring.
I have the harness and it all fits fine. Will be confirming in the next few days that it actually works without any modes but it should.
Here is the pinout for the Raptor; (c417 connector)

Have this installed now and it works fine.
Did notice that the turn signals work okay.
The driving lights are okay but only the bottom C lights up. Under normal condition, both the bottom and top are driving lights with just the top as driving and blinker.
Not a big deal but looking at the pinout I see why. It should be fixable but don't think it is an issue anyway!
Not only that, don't plan on lots of night driving so the brake and turn is the most important.
Might just turn on the driving lights on the truck anyway for some night driving. That will make the other marker/driving lights work as well. Draw should be very low with them all being LED's.
Using a night Hawk tow bar and that has marker lights as well for night driving.
Waiting on the Base plat now from Blue Ox. It was designed last month but not completed for sale yet.
The part number is;

BX2915 Ford Ranger Raptor (Includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Shutters, & Turbo) Baseplate - Blue Ox

I got my 2025 RR
Piecing together the flat tow system
Does the 12v socket in RR stay hot while car is off for a long time?

I'm aware one can wire in a constant 12v socket, maybe not necessary
Re Neutral mode, nowhere in the manual does it say to disconnect the battery in RR, so assuming not needed, or actually a bad thing (was needed in my ZR2, or at least I had it installed)
I am aware of need to have a charge line from the RV
Thanks

WE are using the 2025 Ford Ranger Blue Ox Patriot Portable Flat Tow Brake System - Proportional
Also Had a hell of a time with Blue Ox and the base plate. EEtrailer was also not helpful. Landed up calling Roadmaster and they had 30+ in stock and sent out the same day.
The Nighthawk is by far the best tow bar to go with as it is so tightly and neat.
We have every thing up and working for 500miles now.
The outlet in the truck does time out. Could have added an outlet but the brake controller only used 8watts so just use a little 292watt battery pack. With coupons about $65 ( Amazon.com: Newsmy Portable Solar Power Station 270Wh/72000mAh, 268W Max Output, 2×100W USB-C PD, LiMnFePO4 Battery with Spotlight for Hiking, Traveling & Emergency, Drone Charging, Compact Power Stations : Patio, Lawn & Garden )
About the Roadmaster base plate install. "IT IS A MESS"
If you go with this plate, ask for some ideas as trying to install as they show is by far not OK!
Put it this way, had to remake some minor parts. Now it is much stronger and had to remove nothing from the truck other than the Bash Plate!

OH: and do not disconnect the battery!
You can find the directions for putting in 4 wheel tow mode in the directions that you can find on the touchscreen as the manual is loaded on the trucks display.
But basically you put it in neutral mode then on the dash screens go to 4 wheel tow and hold the button till it locks in the mode.
A little more to the sequence you will see about brakes on off etc. after a few times you will have it down!
The battery must stay connected and it shifts the transfer case to neutral. Releases the brake, steering etc.
It will display it is in 4 wheel tow mode when you open the door as well. You will have to follow the procedure to get it out of the mode as well. It will not go out of the mode without following the procedure.
Tip: once you search and find it on the center screen manual. Push the favorites button so it will be easy to find the first few times till you remember the procedure.

Thank you. I have a nighthawk bar, so was going to use the roadmaster baseplate product to mate with it and the patriot
I carefully read the install docs for the baseplate for the RR, didn't seem like that much modding, but you say otherwise and I believe you
I will be adding the 12v 20a accessory socket

This is what I've been collecting so far

1. Roadmaster Base Plate 524481-5 Road Master EZ-5 Base Plate Kit $525

2. Blue Ox Patriot BRK2022 $1,529.26

3. Demco Wiring Harness Kit includes coil cable, receptacle, 4 diodes $212.67
https://www.etrailer.com/Flat-Tow-W...er/2025/DM9523010-54.html?VehicleID=202593829
This kit was fairly easy to install on a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. If you use this kit to set up a Roadmaster Nighthawk tow bar you do not need the 7-wire to 6-wire coil connector as the tow bar comes with it. Get a 4 diode wire kit without the coil connector and save money

This is the relay diode wiring only kit with good video of install (no female receptacle included)

5. Brake away switch (replacement if not included with patriot) $91

OKay, The base plate, brake controller is all you need.
The cable and truck pollock connector comes with the tow bar.
so:
1: yes but good luck getting from Etrailer, maybe, if problem call Roadmaster.
2: Yes, power is 4~8watts so can power many ways even small battery supply will last days.
3: Terrible idea, the wires behind the light ( 11wires) all unmarked black 20 gauge. Cutting into these wires is asking for a disaster!
Use kit for 2021~2023 F150. PLug and play from connectors behind the bumper just above the exhaust tips. Curt 52103 ( currently amazon open box $38) Amazon.com: CURT 52103 Custom Towed-Vehicle RV Wiring Harness for Dinghy Towing, Fits Select Ford F-150 with LED Taillights, Black : Automotive
4: UP to you but not really required ( others much cheaper)
$7 Receptacle: Comes with tow bar
5: comes with Brake controller ( 1/8 jack for Patriot controller)
6: up to you, but low power can use battery pack
7: works fine without it, but can use if you want or add latter.

Other note: the nighthawk has the safety chains and cable already in the tow bar. No need to buy any other wiring or sockets.
YOu have to change the 2 bolts on the shutter bracket. The 2 bolts you take out fit a spots in the bumper just to the passenger side of the licenses plate. Just next and above the sonar sensor. The brackets that come with the tow bar and brake way switch fit perfectly in the 2 already threaded location.
8: if you want but not really required. Have driven a few days and not even dent in the trucks battery. I is a big AGM battery because of the auto stop/start crap :(
