In January 2026, I bought a new 2025 Ranger XLT. After 700 miles the transmission would make loud metal noises and jump when starting from a stand still. Truck would not be in gear. I took it to the dealer, and they confirmed a problem so they checked the PCM and reprogramed it and reinstalled solenoid body strategy (just writing what the dealer wrote). At 1,400 miles it happened 3 more times in a week. Dealer verified the issues again and removed and replaced the value body, etc. Then at 2,100 miles I recorded 6 more events. Took it into the Dealer and they said they could not verify any issues. I was totally disgusted and traded the XLT in on a new 2025 Lariat thinking that I wouldn't have any problems with a different truck. Well, I was wrong, at 611 miles the Lariat transmission did the same thing 3 times within a week. I again took it into the Dealer and again they could not verify the events. Then the same problem occurred at 1,100 miles. This time the Dealer more-or-less blew me off by giving me a Ford print-out covering the 10R60 Transmission and stating in short, the Klunk & Jump "is a normal and desired behavior of the 10R60 transmission". I now have 2,800+ miles on the Lariat and the same Klunk & Jump resurfaced twice just 2 days ago. The Klunk & Jump as I call it could be a low thud sounding noise followed by a subtle movement or a loud metallic noise followed by an aggressive lurching movement. I just don't see how a transmission that makes disturbing noises and movements is not considered defective. I also feel transmission problems will no doubt surface down the road and most likely when warranty expires. Ford needs to own up to a poorly designed transmission. Perhaps a class action suit needs to be instituted.

HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEMS??????

Every Ranger is equipped with a start/stop disable button. Don't be a lazy , push it. Majority of 10r60 issues stem form this utterly stupid feature!

Never any issues like that on my 25 XLT. Sorry you are dealing with that.

I know people love to hate on the auto start stop, and to each their own, but what transmission issues does it cause?

The auto start stop lets the transmission lose hydraulic pressure an the clutches slam back into lockup (at least that's what some internet engineer claims). I've also heard it's hard on the cam phasers since they rely on hydraulic pressure too.

I had a 2019 for 46K miles and never had a transmission problem but read about a lot. A few guys got lucky an found the trans under filled from the factory an that helped them.
