I think the whole purpose of changing the Ranger name to F100 or F100 - Ranger is to give Ford the ability to include the ranger sales in their classic bragging rights claim that the F-series is the best selling vehicle in the USA for however many decades they been claiming that title.

The reality is Ford includes all F-series sales in that number. So making the Ranger an F-100 makes perfect sense to me where Ford marketing is concerned. Make an F -series and add in its sales figures to the F-series claim to fame.

When GM has actually almost always sold more trucks than Ford.

GM just has their sales broken out into two different brands and 3 different classes of trucks for those two brands.

I’m reminded that Ford said TTP will begin truck production in 2029. That could mean 2027 and 2028 will be the last production years for the North American Ranger in its current form.

Tennessee truck plant. It was going to be the cornerstone of the new electric vehicles coming out of blue oval city which also had the battery factory.

it has now pivoted to producing some sort of mid sized internal combustion engine truck in 2029 .

the battery factory is now owned by sk rather than a joint venture With sk.

and ford took over the battery facility in Kentucky and that is part of the new Ford energy strategy.

Bumping this older thread because there is some interesting information (from reliable sources) about the Ford Ranger's future. I provided a link for the discussion on Blue Oval Forum below but here is the short version:

  1. Production of the Ford Ranger at the Michigan Assembly Plant (MAP) will be terminated (timeline unknown).

  2. A Ford Bronco pickup will replace the Ranger production at MAP.

  3. A Ford Ranger replacement (likely named F-100) will be produced at the Tennessee Truck Plant (TTP):
    1. The TTP (formerly called Blue Oval City) was originally intended to build the second generation of the F-150 Lightning which was cancelled.

    2. The F-100 will be based on the Ford Ranger SD that is currently available in ROW but not North America.

    3. The F-100 will likely be produced/branded/marketed under the F-Series umbrella (no longer a red headed step child).

    4. The F-100 will hopefully have more cab and bed configurations (similar to the F-150).

Very interested in all of this and if it ends up being true. I wouldn't hesitate to trade my ranger in for the "F-100" if it really does take some inspiration from the Ranger SD.

Additional tidbits is that F-100s will use the beefed up frame from the Ranger SD. But, there will likely be two versions. An F-100 Standard Duty (or call it light duty) which would be much like today's Ranger but it will utilize the beefed up frame. And there will be an F-100 Super Duty which will be much like the Ranger Super Duty that already exists in ROW. Something for everyone.

I really like the looks of my RRs or all the current Rangers.
I sure hope they don't screw that part up when they go to redesigning stuff.

So many of these auto manufactures tend to get way too carried away with over stylized designs.
GM and Toyota are the biggest culprits in making goofy looking over stylized trucks.

if I had to guess, it will be a completely different design than what we have now and it will look closer to the 15th gen F150 that is coming out in 2029.

5th and 6th gen rangers were designed by Ford AU since the ranger sells so good over there. For this "F-100" I could see Ford bringing the design back to the USA if they are combining it all into their flagship truck line.
