2.3L. Called dealer to get oil change. Pretty big price diff but I'd rather have full synth.

Ask them why full synth costs an extra $25 per quart on Clown World. 🤡

I'm sorry, but this is simply criminal. The most expensive boutique 5w30 in the world doesn't cost that much, and they're probably only using Mobil 1 if you're lucky.

OIl and filter both $30 from Walmart. And that's with multiple quality brands to pick from.

Neither. Do it yourself. Or ask a friend if you are unable to and buy the oil and filter. You can get synthetic oil and filter for under $40 easy.

Always use a Motorcraft filter if you blow up the motor the dealer will try to void the warranty . This happened with my F150 they wanted to see all receipts for my filters and oil

Something appears wrong here. The cost difference between a blend and full is negligible. The oil & filter would cost about $60 either way. Whoever quoted you made some sort of mistake. Ford deal here charges $10 more for full synthetic. Ford dealer here quoted me $100, then when I dropped my truck they wanted $140. $100 they can do it. $140 I’ll do it. They did it.

It's not a mistake when stealerships charge for their services and parts, their quotes and what they charge are highly inflated because they have been getting away with it and most people pay these high prices because they have no other choice, so they take advantage of them. They will keep doing this as long as there are clients who don't mind paying.

yep my dealer quicklane is a bit of an adventure! Sigh. Their service dept seems to negotiate price like I'm buying a car. "the works" with synth blend is normally $80, but always on sale for $60. No discounts on full synth though. Quoted $200 on the phone, $140 in person + extra $ for tire rotate.

They try to hold profit margin on that full synth! But hey that's their choice. I might try another place next time.

I would not argue with you over how dealerships take advantage of consumers. Always trying to up-sale everyone on every deal. The biggest rip off is now they tell everybody they need extended warranties. Telling consumers a headlight costs over $2 grand. What they don’t tell you is bulbs are wear items like brake pads. Not covered. Huge margins and profits for dealers and companies.

I do my own for a little over a $100 bucks. Amsoil 5W-30 Motorcraft filter.
Yeah I might have to get back into home maintain. Then I know it was done right and took my time. Hard for me to do right now though, too many things to juggle so I gotta offload some work to the pros. :)
