I have a 25 ranger with a 2.3. 2500 mi. Almost all suburbs driving.
1st oil change coming up very soon. Will likely go with full synthetic, with 5k oil changes. Is anyone running the synthetic blend ? Recommendations. Like price better on blend but full synthetic is much cheaper than engine work. This is my first turbo .

It probably doesn't matter but I ran blend the first few oil changes in my 2019. I read about fuel in the oil from the direct injection an I was thinking I'd let the rings break in before switching. In the RR I haven't decided if I'll switch to full after a break in change or two. I don't plan on towing any and I baby it compared to how I hammered the last truck.

My 2 cents and that’s JUST my 2 cents. Change it early (like now at 2.5K) and switch to full synthetic. If your truck was in my driveway that’s what I’d do. Some may disagree and that’s fine, but you asked so that’s my opinion…..oil changes are cheap insurance.

i read somewhere about an engine that was run on blend versus full and the full looked alot better when torn down later at 150 or 170k miles. i probably read it on here because these guys link and talk about all kinds of indepth stuff like this.

i think it may have been in the 2.7 wet belt threads.

but i run mine on full synthetic because engine repairs are more expensive than oil

I went full synthetic on my first and just had my second done today with full synthetic. Like everyone says oil is way cheaper than a new engine. :D

For city driving ....I just use the ford motorcraft blend oil. I'm not towing anything or climbing hills either. My engine is not stressed at all . Only commuting to work and home about 10K per year.

No commuting or towing. But 98% in town,/suburbs. My annual mileage will be similar. Prb go with blend at least 1st oil change. Will change again pretty soon.

Off topic , but getting 20 mpg. Hoping for a little better, but not bad w starts/stops and avg 23 mph.
Sure beats 13 t 14 in my 93 f150 w 5.0.

Full syn 5W30 from Costco. Nice and cheap, especially when on sale.

Wix filter (supposedly the maker of the OE Motorcraft filters)

I bought 2 5 quart jugs pennzoil ultra platinum 5w-30 from Walmart delivered to my door same day, $52.

pennzoil is running a promotion $30 rebate on that purchase.

the new jugs have the meets or exceeds motorcraft wss-m2c971-a1 on the back.

I almost pulled the trigger on this deal until I saw the fine print on Penzoil rebate site, wonder if I can buy it in store for the same price?

https://www.pennzoil.com/en_us/promotions/do-it-yourself-oil-change/rewards.html

Not valid on purchases made on Amazon.com or Walmart.com.

well that sucks. if you go to the link of the participating locations it lists walmart

it even had Walmart on the pull downs for selecting the retailer.

its only the pdf that says no Amazon or Walmart.

Just got back from Wally World, the price online is less than in store, don't know why, so I took a pass on this for now.
