I do find it comical that, when I schedule service/oil change at the dealership online, I have to choose "off-brand" synthetic.
When I ask the service tech, in person, he says they only use Motorcraft and they can't change the "off-brand" description, so most everyone asks them about it in-person. I'm guessing this isn't the only thing they get a bit frustrated with Ford about.

Now I'm hoping I don't get asked for a DM with my VIN and dealership so they can look into the issue....just kidding, Ford. I'm glad you participate here.

I will bet a cold beer they are using bulk whatever regardless. I found most dealerships regardless if they invoice out Motorcraft branded oil or not on the service ticket, they are pumping in a bulk fill oil that may meet the grade and Ford specs. If you want to see they put in actual Motorcraft bottled oil, that is going to be extra.

Motocraft is bulk oil.

Yeah, it they actually stock it. Many dealers do not. Given the point that dealership claims they cannot remove the "off brand" from the invoice tells me they do not either. If the customer wants to push the issue, they will just go to parts and get the bottled stuff but they will probably be charging for it.

I did my first oil change at 3500.

Dealership told me that was a bit early and the mindset that you should do the first oil change early due to perceived manufacturing contaminates is an outdated view that isn't relevant for new cars. He said just stick to every 5000 miles for this engine.
I put a magnet on my filter the day I bought mine. Cut the filter apart at 1500 miles and it had metal dust on the inside of the Did he/she mention the diffs & transfer case? I changed those fluids
I'm going to be changing at:
1,000
3,000
6,000
10,000
15,000

And then every 5K after that.
IF you're being that diligent with your motor oil, which I commend you for, don't forget your transmission, transfer case and both diffs.

I asked to see the barrels because I was basically touring the local dealership after basically firing the dealership that used to do service on my other fords. It is Motorcraft.

As long as the oil you buy meets the Ford Specs listed in the manual your good. That should put this whole synthetic oil to bed and what oil to use. Changing oil early is a preference. I changed mine early and quite a bit of metal flakes were in filter and oil was jet black with just 1200miles. Just puts me at peace to change oil early and do it every 5k. My Bronco is actually quite a bit quieter after switching to full synthetic than using the Motorcraft. Noticed same thing on my Ranger.

See post I did on bronco forum. Same oil for Ranger engines.

I changed at 3500 miles. Went with Ford full synthetic and will change at 60 to 70% on oil life monitor.

Yes I do want to see the bottles. I do have to pay more at my Quick lane. I didn't buy a cheep truck and I don't want cheep oil. Yes I am sure the oil is all the same but I like seeing name brand things.

Interesting that Ford recommended a blend, I dropped my factory oil at 3k and replaced it with Royal Purple full. Maybe next time I will go with the blend. 5k more miles will be the next.

Just did my first oil change today (Raptor) at 3800 miles, showed 71% remaining on oil monitor. Fairly straightforward to do, just had to borrow a 1 1/16 socket (aka 27mm) from a neighbor for oil filter. A bit wierded out by the plastic oil plug but only based on precedent, not because I don't think it's less effective in any way.

The Motor Oil Geek on YouTube has a great video on what he did for his daughter's Toyota (actually linked on page 2 of this thread). Multiple Ford mechanics also have stated that if you want your Ecoboost to last you change the oil every 5k miles. That's what I plan to do.

I just did my 2024 2.3 @ 5500 miles. When I reset the monitor it said I was at 43%. I've always done my own changes at about 5000 miles. Needless to say that filter location is a pain.
