@greaserman, Yes, there is black metal bracket that goes under wires in front of the cam cover. Here's a link to the instructions. Microsoft Word - IS M-6766-B23 051923 (ford.com) and this is the bracket:

The metal tab points up and the catch can slips onto it.

Apologies for this being a crude drawing but this is what it would look like if the catch can is transparent. The trapezoids are supposed to show what direction they are pointing. -It's bad, I know lol

But I do hope this helps and good luck!

are these supposed to catch fuel in the winter months

They catch; fuel, oil and condensation from the crankcase all year round. Whuch is a common issue for turbocharged GDI.??

I have cleaned mine out twice in about 8,000 miles. There was minimal oil and about a tablespoon and a half of water last time I cleaned it out three weeks ago. Less, the time before. This was also after cold weather in a Montana winter. There is no problem with freezing and plenty of capacity. My oil temps come up to operating temp almost every time I drive. I could see if someone did very short trips, it may fill up more. But most of the water in the oil evaporates during normal operation.

do those have the screens in them that catch the oil vapors from the air when its warm out? or maybe if you add some steel wool, you will catch more?

i had a catch can in my nissan titan v8. it was mounted to the front of hte engine, between the radiator and the valve cover, and that sucker was so hot when i would pop the hood to check it but it always had about an inch of junk in the bottom so i checked it regularly. i used the j&l can and was considering one for my ranger but it sounds like they aren't needed as much as on the import company vehicles

There is a very fine screen at the top of the unit. I am pleased that there is not very much oil at all and it is mostly condensate.

So I’ve never installed one on my Ecoboost Ford vehicles. I have had them on my 5.0 Mustangs and F150 and they did work in those. I’m gonna be putting one on my 25 Ranger and will report back. I’m just waiting on a new fitting. I’ll take pics of the UPR can I have internally as they have different variations and where I mount it in a week or so when i get the new fitting.
